Can someone please tell me what the standard rear wheel KW of a Vn 5l is
cheers
140-145kw.
Going by the blue VN manual it only states:
165 kw @4400 rpm and 385 Nm @ 3600 rpm
Illegitimi Non Carborundum
Obviously rw kw is going to be less that 165![]()
bout 120.. there 15years old now...
ride; [GMHVN6] Project Streeter - VN Berlina '90 mods; 65mm throttle-body / Cold Air Intake / 8mm Ignition Leads / Exhaust
future; Extractors , Cam currently; 101.2rwkw mission; 110rwkw
Yeah Detrax is right. Brand new they were between 120-125rwkw completely stock.
Perhaps a little lower if its done alot of k's.
Yep 120-125 is pretty normal for an auto, 135 for a good auto, 135 to 145 for a good manual. Even more with a dud dyno. Then again anything that's running properly should pull over 130
i had 2 dyno runs with my stato 5l got 120 and 135 rwkw's but i have exhaust, cai and 70mm TB. i went to 2 different dyno's within a couple weeks of each other and didn't change a thing on the car.
And your statesman pulled a low 15 1/4 right?, just goes to show dynos are just about worthless since the statesman is clearly making quite a bit more power than a stock one
165kw @ Engine, 125 kw - 130KW @ wheels
I got 144.5KW last yr for my 5litre Can't wait for my cam!

Just an update to this, a local guy here had his VN SS manual on the dyno today and made 146.7rwkw with a CAI and a maxed out tune I made for him. Stock exhaust, it has around 300,000 on the clock I think
I've seen VS HSV 185i's with a CAI only pull 145rwkw on a dyno...Originally Posted by greenfoam
Yup, they have an exhaust advantage though
thats right. the track is where you know how much power you can get to the groundAnd your statesman pulled a low 15 1/4 right?, just goes to show dynos are just about worthless since the statesman is clearly making quite a bit more power than a stock one![]()
