hey having problems with the alternator in my car and i need a new 1. i have a new one in my vh but it is only 55amp thats not enough is it? if not what size should i be looking for?? cheers
85amp is standard, but you can get 130amp off bd1's
Not for the VN you cant. The BT1's only had the 130 amp in the later models, to fit VS and onwards.Originally Posted by genIIIbandit
All thats available is the 85amp alernator off VN-VR.
fair enough, sorry bout dat
hehe I thought the same thing a few months ago man. It is possible but it would involve modification, swapping the mounting brackets over between alternators etc.Originally Posted by genIIIbandit
it may just be your voltage regulator on the back, alot of people replace the whole unit when it's just the little black thing at the back, get em from bursons for about 30 bucks
why would you want a 130 amp alternator anyway? it won't make anything work better.
You may need/want one if you have a large sound system or something along those lines?Originally Posted by jules
is there any way of telling if its the voltage thing at the back?
yeah check the alternator with a 0-100-0 test.
If its the ammeter that shows incorrect output then its the alternator.
If its the voltage that is incorrect then its the voltage regulator
cheers fellas i think i might just grab a new 85 amp one and be done with it. i just hope its not my battery or something like that. thanx
Anytime man. Good luck with it! Hope the new alternator fixes the problem
