Went out and purchased myself a nice shiny set of these, was a fair bit more than normal spark plugs but they're meant to be the in thing when it comes to spark plugs i guess?
First thing i noticed was the idle, alot smoother than the old ones, and the power right down low was alot better, instead of bogging down it pulled nicely in a higher gear, i can accelerate in 3rd from about 30km/h so it's much better, plus it revs alot quicker and nicer.
although i'm not too sure if the $96 for a set is justifyable, i'll have to wait and see what the bowser says (i'm already getting ~ 9-10l's per 100k's around the city.)

i got a set of those a couple years ago cost me $15 each or something...
Car idles better, starts first go,revs harder etc ...
they are good... and u should notice a little better economy but your getting good economy if u get 10l to 100km so i wouldnt expect much better.

Or was that because they are just new plugs???
I put new TOP GUN 8.8mm Leads,New Bosch Super 4's in my vn ss JULY 06 190,000km service, new coolant, new oil + Filter, K & N Filter Service and she runs so well now with t/body cleaned out and tune 140.2kw on 98 octane.... revs nice, and enonomy is alot better but for a V8 there is really no such thing as economy! lol

yeah mate iridium IX's, upon driving around today i noticed the huge changed, got major poke now!! i'd strongly suggest it, and how hard i've been driving it today i'm still getting 9-10l's per hundered k's stoked!! i think it might even be better than that.
but definately worth considering!!

Yeah I put them in my car.. but I paid a bit more than you got yours... I guess I got ripped![]()
i went to coventry's mate, did you just go to repco or something? coz they charge like 20 bucks each or somthing, coventry's were about 14 i think + gst so yeah ended up about 96 dollars for the lot.
what's your impression of them?

I paid $112 at Motoquipe for a set, but that was with some small discount, they were $21.99 each RRP as far as I remember...
Yeah I highly reccomend them as well man, definitely worth the money in my opinion. It was the first thing I did when I first bought my car. I've done 37,000km's since and they're still going great
It made the idle excellent, and startup as well. A good buy.
Do you know what the reccomended change interval is for them?
nah not sure hey, probably would have been written on the boxes but they're in the bin and it's way too cold to go fishing for them ha ha.
i'd say maybe a year or so? whats the normal rate? i'd probably say 3/4 life of normal plugs? but yeah i'm liking them more each time i drive!!

Im pretty sure they last alot longer...But I dont remember either... Normal plugs are every 20,000km's and I know the Bosch ones are around 80,000 for their higher end plugs... So I presume its something similar... with mine having done basically 40,000 now maybe I should look at replacing them![]()
Yeah I put em in the VR and noticed no difference what so ever. Thinking with the VN ill do what I did with my previous VN, use the stock NGK's and change them every 5000k's with the oil.

Selling FG G6E Turbo and buying a N/A Supra
sounds good, yeah i've noticed quite a big difference with mine, at first i didn't then i started giving it some weeties (what the plugs are designed for) and really noticed the difference. fuel economy is still excellent too

The guys at repco told me the plugs would last about 100,000 km when I got some for my toyota.Originally Posted by gone_nutz13

that's good news!! 100,000 that's a fairly good effort!

I would say they wouldn't stay in optimum condition for 100K though. If you're after performance it might pay to replace them before that.
With the denso iridiums from toyota I got told they would last for 20000km. They told me that the OEM ones (comes with the factory engines) are the to go for as the last upto 150000km.
I don't know much about the NGK type. But the spending $100 for plugs which last 20000km I think spending $15 for 6 standards plugs more inviting and replace them every 10000km.
according to the NGK website "Featuring a 0.6 mm iridium center electrode tip, they offer superior ignitability without sacrificing durability." "Iridium IX Spark Plugs offer outstanding acceleration, high fuel efficiency and long life"
As NGK have had these for quite a while now i'd be pretty comfortable in relying on them for a long period of time. The First lot that came out were a bit questionable but the IX's i'd say would be pretty good.
definately worth the 100 bucks i say, my car just keeps going harder and faster now with each day![]()

the OEM ones are meant to be replaced atleast every 20,000km's...Originally Posted by SlowVac

Ok so i have just done coolant and flush, oil and oil filter, new fan belt, gearbox service and new flywheel (torque converter/gearbox), i was thinking next of a set of NGK iridiums IX's and New 9mm Leads, would this be a good choice before i get the CAI...
If your plugs need replacing anyway, then go for it... If not grab the CAI first I reckon... Like $53 from a Holden Dealer.
But when you need to replace your plugs, go for it man. And my vote would be for some Magnecore leads, 10mm.
bigger the betterless resistance, CAI, cheap effective and takes about an hour to bolt up i'd say, plugs and leads will definately complement all that well!!
I've got a pod filter tucked away nicely behind my left headlight, nice amount of cold air plus the benefits of a pod![]()
I'm wanting to get an MSD ignition coil, any thoughts on prices for them?
Rolling in a 5.0
lol yeah im keen for the bigger leads, but i found out that in an engine newhere over like 200-250 000kms its not good to go bigger than the stock leads cause it can head where there is to much spark and blow a hole in the piston/block area, i was told go NGK iridium, is there any truth to this, or is it just a small chance thing, where it has like a 1 in a million chance of happeneing
and can someone explain to me what the coil pack does?
