Ok, so here's the problem:
When trying to start the car it'll just wind over heaps, and not actually fire. It sounds like it wants to, but it just won't. A couple of times it has actually fired but it's spluttering heaps for about 3 seconds then it just dies.
I've swapped the coil packs over from another VN that a mate has just sitting in his back yard. And that made no difference. So next on my list is the CAS. But I don't really want to have to replace only for it to not be the problem.
What I want to know is, what are the chances of it being the CAS? What else could it be? And is it possible to do find out if it is the CAS for sure without having to take it to a mechanic?
I just want my car going, I hate not being able to drive it...
Thanks guys.

Tomorrow doesn't look good either.
God must love stupid people, He made so many.
It could be many things.
First check that the fuel pump is working.
If O.K. then check that the engine has spark.
If the car has spark it will be doubtful that it is the CAS.
If it doesnt it could be the DFI module or CAS.
Can you hear the fuel pump when you turn the ignition on and then off again?
If no sound from the tank a gentle thump to the bottom of the tank may get it going.
Have u checked for error codes?
The fuel pump is working, you can hear it perfectly when you turn the ignition on. It's was only just replaced 6 months ago!
Error codes?? Nah, I haven't done that. I was fairly sure it was the coil packs, but that turned out to be wrong, so now I'm back to the drawing board....

Chances are its the CAS if you have tried a corepack/DFI unit. But you should see if you have any error codes
get some water, and pour it onto the Crank angle sensor, (behing the largest(crank shaft) pully, wait 30 seconds and 99% it will start, very common problem
This generally applys if you have been driving and the CAS is overheatingOriginally Posted by CSL
Well, when my VN first did it, it hadn't been driven for about 5 hours, (it was fine beforehand) So I guess that's ^^ not going to help??Originally Posted by CSL

put hand on injectors and with a mate starting for the car you will feel the pulse, if there is no pulse, crank angle sensor.
do that and get back to us
i am the god of britany spears womanizer on just dance on the wii
Thanks Garth, I'll do that as soon as I get a chance.

i had the same issue,
turned out to be coil packs
the usual reasons for this are
Crank angle sensor
fuel pump
ecu dead
DFI/coil packs
But you've tried all that,
so do a self diag,
get a paper clip, unfold it... and insert one end into the white wire socket thats located in the front passengerside under hte kick panel near the ecu, then connect the other end of hte paper clip to the black wire bridging the white and black, the engine light should now be flashing, it should flash say once, then a break then three times for code 13... tell us if it reports any codes
When i changed my leads once I didnt put the right ones back in the right places, and it done exactly what u mentioned. Got them around the right way and its all good.
