You need to grow up a little, i think (IMO) the whole holden is better than ford debate has been played out WAY to much. As if most holden fans would say they hate every single ford ever built. Maybe a good thing you only wanna drive a holden, even i know there are a sh!t load of better built, faster and more stylish cars out there than a holden as you cant see past the badge and see that. Badge a XR6T with Holden bet my last dollar says you would love it!!!

my mate just got his first wheels, falcon futura 94 model, (similar to my mid95 VS hehehe), i havent driven it, but went for a ride in it and damn it is quiet (except the harmonic balancer lol), i could feel that my car would have more go, and more comfortable rear seats (no centre bulge), but hell it was so quiet, no rattles, groans, bumps or clicks...man that annoys me...
Need some parts for my VH 253:
Green standard steering wheel...Green lower B-pillar covers.
Green sunglasses holder/lower dash bits...Air-con and assorted engine bay parts.
    PM with any info.

Drive both Holdens and Fords, Ford wins in some area's Holden wins in other area's. They're both as good as each other and only the fanboys are the ones that seem to find the other one crap. But most of the time when you talk to them they havent a clue (this goes for both camps).

But it's nice that an L-plater who has such a large experience of driving many cars can tell the difference between a good car and a poor car.

Im a one eyed Holden fan and proud of it

Theres some nice US Fords like Mustangs, Ford GT etc. but not so much over here.

There were some nice Fords decades ago with the 351 and some of the GTHO's but they went decades just building shit boxes imo and it hasnt been until the release of the BA that some decent Fords have hit the road such as the FPV's and the XR6 turbs..

But i'd still take a Holden version any day. I'll take an old 350 Monaro over a GTHO or a 351... I'll take a HSV ANYDAY over an FPV.

As for the XR6 Turbo, thats the one Ford I would take over its Holden counterpart - the SV6 (in VZ form). But the VE SV6 is much better car I think so we'll have to wait and see...

Theres some good points made here. Whenever i hear someone say "I hate Ford" or 'I hate Holden" i just think, oh here we go again! So narrow minded.

I have owned both Ford and Holden cars. Generally i don't like to compare them because they are quite different. Its like comparing apples and oranges. I agree that they both definitely have there good and bad points.

As for the Power/Economy switch reffered to in the first post. In economy mode the gears shift earlier and in power mode the gears are held longer. I think its a good idea really. You can change it to suit your driving requirements at the time, towing, carrying a load, overtaking, etc.

The only Ford I have owned was the worst car I ever encountered! But that was just one out of however many millions of that model they made. The more recent cars they have produced are pretty good in my experience. And every manufacturer is bound to make a total lemon from time to time! In the end it just comes down to personal preference.

I suggest just drive the thing and look after it, Holden or Ford doesn't pay money to fans to promote, your still paying them at the end. I like Holdens more and thats it.

Yes this thread is stupid. You are correct in that respect only. Why don't VN's have a power/economy switch? That question suggests to me that in addition to knowing F'all about Fords, you know exactly two thirds of jack shit about the mighty VN Holden Commodore. You see the automatic transmission in most E-series falcons (I'm assuming it was an E-series) was an electronically controlled 4-speed automatic, the power/economy button just changes the shift pattern as Spike79 said. VN commodores were equipped from factory with a hydraulically controlled 4-speed automatic, not so easy to change the shift points on that with the flick of a switch.
Beau Duke: Man, I'm never gonna get outta this car again. I'm gonna live in it, I'm gonna eat in it and I'm gonna make sweet love to it!
Luke Duke: You mean you're gonna make sweet love IN it.
Beau Duke: Oh no, I'm gonna have sex with it.

im a holden boy thru n thru...but holdens and fords are quite different yet so similar..

yes fords are generalli more quiet then commo's..they seem to be alot more refined..but it comes down to personal opinion realli..i mean i love the roughness my VN motor has to it..i couldnt stand being in a ultra quiet car...yet u have 45year old woman who'll say the complete opposite..

    lol.. trent....

in my opinion fords are too big and too heavy, but they DO have a more powerful engine and other features commodores dont have, as a L plater you've never driven by your self (well not supposed to) therefore your driving style has never been natural.... how can you know what a ford drives like if you've never driven one??? sure u can tell how its like in the passengers seat but dude grow up... i drove a EB and a EL, the EL was much better but still sluggish, had better brakes than my vn, as for power there was 4 people in the car so i couldnt feel it but seriously untill you've driven it without a guardian sitting next to you throwing critism in your face after every decision you make then no, you cant compare sh*T!!!!!!!!!!!!!

after driving my mates AE82 manual toyota corolla i want one... you can park just about anywhere and they go hard...

Actually I'm inclined to agree, I've never driven an electronically controlled auto that I was completely happy with. Example: VY SS and VY2 SS with the 4L60E, basically the same box as in the VN adapted to electronic control and it lags like a bastard by comparison! Most frustrating. The Ford box in the E-series was ok but not brilliant, responsive but with crap ratios. In the AU it had the same crap ratios but a bit smoother. In any of the Fords, turn on the aircon and all of a sudden the auto starts behaving like an absolute slug, dunno why it just does. Somewhat irritating.

    F*** that annoys me too.

It's mainly 17 year olds, who haven't got the slightest clue, of which is better or worse.

Don't get me wrong, I was like it too, when I was around that age and even up until early last year, but I've got alot of respect for Fords now, considering I drive a Ford Laser, just about evey day. (I also had a Ford Cortina)

I just can't stand immature f***tards, like a couple of my brother's mates that say "No matter how nice it is, it's still a Holden and my <Insert Ford model here> can flog any Holden". I have mates that show a bit of hate towards Fords, but they have had experience with them and respect nice ones.

It's just annoying when you've worked so hard on making your car look good and some close minded fag, comes up and says "It's still shit, because it's a Holden/Ford".

I have 2 uncles. 1 prefers Holdens and 1 prefers Fords and needless to say, they both like giving eachother a serve, but it's all in good fun, because I've seen both of them make nice comments, about the other brand.

I just hate people, who make it personal and are just asking for a baseball bat, to the face.

There both pretty good holdens just have a better look through the series and fords have only just started to get a nice shape to their bodies with the BA's. Newer fords like AU's etc are very simple to create power out of with small mods. Just depends what floats your boat i guess. Still Holden through and through...

Hmmm I don't know, because I've always thought that EBs/EDs and EF/ELs have always had a really nice lookiing shape, but the thing that really kills Fords, was when the V8 was dropped in the 80s.

I mean they had no performance image at all in the 80s, whereas Holden had HDT and HSV. Ford couldn't compete with that. Also HSV has been established alot longer then FPV, but I think in the short time FPV have been around, they've done a bloody fantastiic job, of making up the lost ground, they lost in the 80s and have produced some awesome cars. (Typhoons and GTs are without a doubt, 2 of the best cars, to come from the Ford stable)

reckon EF/EL and current shape BA/BF are pretty good, a friends dad brought as BF GT, very nice. I think everyone can agree that AU falcons were crap, even ford fans say the same thing.
