    Default Irs cv joints

My cv joint in the passenger side of the diff has a broken boot and makes a bad vibration. i presume the cv joint needs replacing. On researching cv joints i noticed there are two types, ones that are built in ( ie axel needs replacing or welding etc) or exchangable ones ( parts are seperate and usually only the bearings bearing cages and boots need replacing)

can anybody give me information on this problem, what type of cv joint the holden has and the cost involved if the repairs need to be done by a specialist.

    Thanks

There pretty straight forward to do and 99% chance the joint its self doesn't need replacing, just the boot and a decent amount of grease will fix it. But if you are going to do it make sure you do all of them as if one has gone the rest ain't far behind. Through Holden the boots can be quite expensive but if you get them aftermarket you can usually get them for half the price, and rubbers rubber right! You proberbly could do it your self but applying the clamps will be hard without the tool needed, but other than that its an easy fix. If you like ill give you detailed instructions just let me know. If you get it done at a specialist you will prob. be looking at $100-$180, depending where you go.
Please PM me if you know of any L67's complete with loom and ECU are for sale

Make sure you check them for wear before just changing boots. One day i was under my car changing the rear springs and all was fine,24hrs later it sounded like i blew the diff.Got under to see the drive shaft boot had split and i had lost all of my grease and there was grease all over my exhaust.
The day before it was clean. The shaft was stuffed and not fixable. What im trying to say is they could get damaged really quickly so check it out properly.Easy fix though.I just got one from the wreckers and it wa sfine.

The shaft i didnt replace is cracked and still going strong.Dont know why the other died so fast.I did put very low springs in it at that time but only for a week.Maybe it was the different angle of the shaft that made the grease come out.

Will the bearings need doing or should the boot and grease fix it
