has anyone fitted a rb25det to their commodores? if so what can it bolt straight on? or use the k-frame etc? i have seen it done b4.. however cant remember what magazine it was.
More common in VL's... Havent seen any in a VN/VP.
Cohn is puttin in an RB30det into his VN...
Also seen an RB20Det in a VN as well which is a waste of time imo.
rb20det's are ok. i used to have one im my 180sx. it was kinda sweet. s15 front end, fluro green paint job with black roof n bonnent, graphics, nearly indentical to fast n furious1. just not a mitsubishi eclipse. rb20det's r a bit more revvy than the rb25det's. im after a new car or new engine for mine... but i dont want another holden engine... something diff.
1JZGTE, but if u got the money go for the 2JZGTE. both motors, 700HP single turbo, front mount, computer, fuel system. wil go good. but it all comes down to money. my2cents

If you want to use any of the RB motors in the VN you use the VL RB K frame in the VN, then it bolts in
Spot on. the vl's rb30 motorand box bolt straight up to your vn chassis. the only thing you will need to do is to modify your driveshaft slightly to suit. alot of things u need will be from holden, not much frabrication required.Originally Posted by greenfoam

or if you wanna get crazy, drop a 13B rotary in it... i once saw a picture of that done, those engines make 300kw with not much work required, the 1JZ is still a pretty good engine, just oldmy next door neibour has a 89 supra with a 1JZ (twin turbo) anyone seen the supra with a OMGWTF turbo on it??? ill find the link

i dont want to imagine how much pound its running.....
the 2JZ's are good for ALOT of power
the rb conv is the most popular because of availability and $$, the toyota motors tend to have higher price tags... it would be different though. Also HZ's were shipped to japan in late 70's with 13b conv for jap market as factory so rotarys have been done before..
Pity a stock VN would be allready finished the race by the time the Supra spooled up![]()
will look into the rb and 2jz. not keen on the 1 jz or the rotor. rotor can be crazy... but tend not to last that long..
LOL foam, on that video apparently its a auto.... and apparently he stalls it before a run, the RB30's are VERY easy to get hold of, and no issues trying to find a turbo manifold/performance parts as those VL turbo junkies have done it all
The 1JZ/2JZ are in a different league to the RB25 and RB30, if your looking for a motor that you can get a ton of power out of without opening it up then a 1JZ or 2JZ is what you want. Both are good for about the same power give or take 50hp. If you want another motor to consider then throw the 1UZFE on the table, its an all-alloy 4lt V8 with quad cams and 32 valves, can be had for $1500 with auto.
is that out of the celsiors? i hear they go quite nicely, and ive heard talk of twin turbo projects done to themOriginally Posted by aokman

rb26 into the vn would be the ultimate conversion to 4cyl. gotta have the cash tho. pricey engines those gtr's...

Try a I6.
Personally I wouldnt never consider any of these swaps. Why not just buy a Supra or Skyline and save the $$$ and heartache.

Selling FG G6E Turbo and buying a N/A Supra
Because then it will be another skyline....Imagine the looks on the ricers faces when u pop the hood and reveil a 2JZ or RB26DETT. MEaoooo.
My bad i wrote 4 cos most rice bangers run 4cyl. The reason you wouldn't buy a supra or a skyline is fristly the rice factor and secondly because its something different. Then think of the power to weight ratio of a vn with an rb26 conversion. Not sure if you would have to trick the ecu to think its running a 4wd...? The godzillas absolutely destroyed the v8 supercars and were banned from racing as a result. I wonder why.....?Originally Posted by AirStrike

Yeh, im very interested in doing a conversion aswell. RB30 seems easyiest option, But the 2jz with manual gb is bulletproof.
I have a Just Commodores magazine (issue 89) with a VS that has a 2JZ single turbo in it.
I FRYED RICE!!!
