16.3 is a fair effort with just them 2 modifications, CAI wont cut .3 off your time.

Maybe a higher octane of fuel if you havent alredy.. And you should hit the highest 15 possible.

They ran 15.7 for S1 or 15.5 S2 stock according to the stats... But that was new. How many k's does yours have on the clock? Sounds an effort if its only got an LSD and considering age

You should be able to get it down to 15.6-15.7 with a CAI and fixing anything that's not right (plugs, leads, fuel filter, fixing the throttle body etc etc) and shifting at the right revs for the job. I wouldn't even blink if you told me a well setup CAI took .3 off. You will need a richer fuel mixture when you get the exhaust on

After my 0-100 time i would only expect a 16

What type of manual shifting should be done?

wouldnt mind running a few of these vn's out here ...
i need a confidence boost lol

yeah that time is near enough to whats expected holdnlvr .. i remember when i picked up my old vn (on a g-tech so add that for unreliability) i squirted a 400m 15.7 with only fresh oil, plugs, 98ron fuel and all my windows wound up

5spd and i know how to drive it so i reckon with a bit of practice with your auto, do a full complete service on your car and theres no reason yours wont touch high 15's

whered you get your time out of curiousity?
    never late in a 3 0 .. uhhh ... intercooled turbo

yes i drive an mx6 turbo ... its probably quicker than yours.

LOL...I know the feeling, I've wanted to run a 1/4 in my VN, but don't feel like rocking up to Calder Park only to run a 16 and be happy with that, when all the other cars are running 10-14.

Might have to go to Heathcote one weekend.

what condition is the transfluid like, if it's old change it for a firmer shift, maybe try taking off with it locked in 2nd to prevent it upshifting to 3rd early. also, what tyres you running, if your on 17" try changing to 15" tyres and drop the pressure a few psi for better traction.

You could pick up at least .2 by running a smaller tyre. 14 inch rims with say 225-50's, even 205-50 will do with your lsd. Big rims like 17's or 18's will add .2 or .3 in the wrong direction

i had 15 tires, and deflated them to about 14psi(a little too low i think), literly pushed the brake and put the other foot to the floor, when i took of i had a tiny bit of wheel spin, not bad for a 1st time drag.

Next time try 30 psi or so, I doubt you will get much wheelspin and less rolling resistance will help ! uber low psi only really works of proper drag slicks and the ideal shift point will be about 5200 rpm maybe slightly more but that's getting so close to the stock limiter that you might accidently hit it and slow down so 5200 should be good

5200 is about where my auto changes itself

Speaking of throttle bodys opening 100%, When they stuck my new one on i could see it open about 70% on a clock style it would have been about 3 a clock 8 a clock, But they adjusted it to more like 90%.

I don't know what you are talking about with your clocks :P The V8 ones noramlly open perfectly anyway, they are made straighter. But if you really want to know pull it off and have a look properly. It does make a difference and untill someone else has a stock VN that goes as fast as my old one you have to listen to me

It's only a 60mm but when one guy was adjusting the accelerator, And we only just done the throttle body, And as he pressed i could see it open about 70%, Even though they got it almost open fully there was still some gap from full. I wish i got a V8 one But i can't knock it its new and i didn't pay for it.
But i can knock them for stuffing up the kick down as it made the tranny shift all weird and crap. I only just found out how to adjust it lol

just checked mine yesterday, it didn't quiet open all the way, i've ground about 2.5mm from the stop. well spotted, had throttle bodies apart many times etc but never did see that. now i just need to check with someone pushing the accelerator pedal down.... i've never been down the 1/4 but i might have to give it a try or maybe i'll get one of those Gtech thingies as i'll need to spend moneis on a helmet any ways and test it on a "closed" road etc.
