Hi Guys,
I have a 5 litre VQ, and find that the accelerator pedal is really stiff. Not only when driving, but even when idling.
It just feels I have to press so hard to get a response.
Is there something I can adjust, or something I can change?
Thanks
I could be completely wrong, but try cleaning the throttle body. . . there could be a lot of carbon buildup in there that's impeding the movement of the butterfly . . .
Take the air intake off the T.B. and have a look inside. If it's all black and dirty then it can't hurt to do a clean regardless . . .
If you do clean it, I found it's easiest to remove the throttle body altogether. Also make sure you remove the electrics before you clean it. Use a toothbrush and a can of throttle body/carby cleaner, or just do what I did and wash all the crap out of there with enormous amounts (an entire can) of cleaner . . .
Hope it works for you. Also, just to give a better idea of what's going on, does the throttle 'stick' open a little bit sometimes when you're driving?
Cheers
Sam
thanks for that suggestion, but I did this ages ago and nothing changed.
It doesn't get stuck, lets just say its stiff.
What about spraying some silicon spray on the accelerator cable?Originally Posted by statey27
