Hey guys,
Just wondering if its common for the trusty old buick to crack a head every now and then. I have a bit of a leak in mine at the moment and was gonna do the gaskets, and im trying to figure out if I should spend the $$$ on getting the heads checked. Can do the gasket change for about $150, but its $300 to get the heads checked.
So, anyone out there had a cracked head?

its not very common to have a cracked head on one of these motors, its more than likely just the gasket
Yeah its pretty rare to crack a head on the Buick 3800, was very common on the VL RB30 though.
the buick heads were tough as guts, pressure testing isnt the cheapest thing
but you can compression test it, that might give u a idea if any cyclinders are down on compression and if /where the damage is
or you could pick up a good second hand motor for 300-500 and be done with it
Cool. Might just do the compression test, and change the gaskets. Give them a nice port job while im at it.
