haha it would be a joke for a VN to beat the new VE !

i dislike the rear styling, and dislike the front even more for making it look like a BA

The base VE only has 330nm of torque, it's not going to be enough to move the old tank to 100 anywhere near as fast as a VN but it might gain back a bit on the 1/4 still, I can't see it being as quick as a brand new shiny VN

Too rite mate!! There's more to beating a car than just the speed.. at least the VN looked origional when it came out, and not styled after a bad photo of a.... welll I can't bring myself to say the word, but Ba comes to mind..

At what??? Being a rough as guts under developed passenger box??? Yes, I think the VN wins hands down.

In virtually every other aspect - nope!

Well the VZ's went pretty crap, because of the weight. So I dont have too much hopes if the VE would be any better.

At work, there is a batch coming soon. When I go for a site visit, I'll take it to this little straight I know and give it ago.

Check out the latest Wheels magazine.

Has all the times. Basically on stats a VN would beat an omega, but the Calais V6, SV6 etc. would destroy a stock a VN.

So it takes the 195kw version to beat the VN, I even doubt that!!!

I'm going to try a VE SS today (uncle brought one)

The times in the latest wheels are pretty impressive for the 195kw engine!

Much better than the 8.3 seconds 0-100 for the VZ SV6 with the alloytec 190.

When I first saw the VE I thought what the heck it is a JAP car it is that darn short, where is the oversized bonet (length) and boot... hell I can put 2.9.m Length of metal in the car (with back seat boot thing down) and still close the boot ... like to see that in the new one ...

not to mention they decreased the bore size on the VE 3.6L engine now

the new cars are soo jammed packed with crap i think a old lady in a stroller could beat one.. anyway they're built for economy now not speed.. with petrol prices as they are.. holden are loosing sales due to the fact that everyone wants 4 bangers

The V8 range pf VE's is easily the fastest range of commodores yet.

The V6 range is overall the fastest also. A VE Calais will destroy a VN Calais, SV6 beat an S pack and Berlina vs. Berlina would be close.

The omega is the slowest of the range now, where as in the VN's, the Exec was the fastest. But the VE Omega is still the fastest base commodore since the VP.
