Just wondering if people can post up a few pics of their interior light setups, especially if they are customized?
I'm trying to find out what setup my car has got in it,and getting ideas for doing something a bit different with it.
Here's mine. Is it a Calais setup or just what comes in the Berlina as standard? There's the large light in the centre of the roof with the two map reading lights in it, then one smaller light each side in the back of the car.

THE VACATIONER LIVES
The lights in the back are pretty good, but the extra lights in the main lamp fitting don't work. I'll have to take it all to bits soon to find out why!

I think Hozy has the title for the most unique interior light
I've got the same dome+readers on the top as you, Shortstuff. Got the setup off a VS Berlina. I had the single beige dome before. Reading lights come in handy
I'm thinking about putting those reading lights up the back of the car some time in the future; 'cause I'm going to have to take all the roof lining off... it's starting to collapse! /o\

Did you have to do any wiring to get the readers to work when you put the new light in? Mine don't work and i'm starting to think it may be because all the wiring isn't there.Originally Posted by Morton

Thats ok then. I didn't fancy pulling the roof lining down. My cover has got a Ford logo inside it! Does yours have one too?Originally Posted by 1991_Vn2nV
The only bit I don't like about the lights is the brown base to the dome. I really want to do something about that. I've got an idea to get rid of it, but it's going to be a beast to get it working the way I want it.

But no mine doesnt have a Ford logo inside it.... where abouts does it say Ford?!
yep its a ford light. pretty sure we had the same in our old fairmont. anyways, i have the same light with the two map lights. my map lights never worked, it never even had to plastic part the globes fit into until i got one from the wreckers. finally pulled the thing out of my roof yesterday, did some soelring, and now it all works great so if you need help figuring out the wiring just let me know.
take some more photos
1 - with the plastic cover off
2 - unscrew the light from the roof and take a photo of the wiring.
do that and i can help you with the wiring
also, how did you get the lights for the rear seats? are they standard in your berlina?

Does your light have Ford in it as well? Why doesnt mine?
yeah mine has ford in it. even the replacement cover i got from the wreckers had ford on it. i have a series 2 berlina and i dont have those lights for the back seats.
then again i dont have electric windows, mirrors, or cruise control. i got a damn executive lol

It's just a very small Ford logo inside the cover, together with a part number. I think it's on the actual white plastic part for the main light.
My readers in the back were there when I got the car. I'll have a look inside the main dome light tomorrow and get some pics if I can't get it working.
I don't have cruise or any electric windows/mirrors either. 1991_vn2nv has the whole lot though!

All im missing in mine is cruise control and climate control and the LV 3 dash.
I wanna take another look at mine but i never noticed a Ford symbol. If it says Ford im ****ing sanding it off hehe
ok i have my spare light setup in my hand. underneath it where the wiring is there is a ford label and a gm label. WHAT THE HELL?

This is the base of mine. Does it look as if all the wiring is there? I thought it was. Maybe have to break the voltmeter out tomorrow!

ok theres no problem with the wiring there. got a photo of the other side?
checked your globes?
also, remove the fuse when working on this. i blew one while fixing mine

ok the part ive put the square around should be receiving 12 volts. check that, and also check continuity between that and the globes ground with your multi meter.
once the current has run through the globe, it is grounded through the screws connecting the light to the roof. check that it is grounding properly

I didn't get a photo of the other side yet! TBH I totally forgot about it because I got too involved in working out how to get rid of the brown bit of the base and put something more exciting in!!
Thats good that all the wiring is there though. I pushed the contacts on the bottom of the small globes forward so they are nice and tight now, and the globes work ok(checked them in another car). Thanks for that. I'll check the voltages etc out. I thought it may be earthed through a screw. So it's not going to work when it's all out anyway?

oh one other thing. the contacts that connect to the side of the bulb may not be touching it. i had that problem, so check that out
