Stopped Speedo

Hey all,

I have searched through the how-to's and also through the search option ... and i havent found the answer to the question. I purchased a VN Commodore last night and we found out the speedo doesnt work, neither does the Odometer ... is this a common problem in VN's and how do i fix it?

just buy a new cluster. theyre pretty cheap

Try your Transducer It comes out of the side of your box.The wires become hard with age and can break at the transducer.

speedo sender or transducer as brian said its located on the passenger side of the box bit hard to get to it tho with the shifter bar in the way

Also look at the soldered joints on the little circuit board. There are sometimes some dry joints. Also the speedo needle gets stuck, put a little sewing machine oil on it from the back, but usually it gets stuck because of the transducer as said above.

Mine has shat 3 senders since i have had it but for $10 at the wreckers and a 5 min trip under ur ride it doesnt hurt.

Transducer/sender thingy on the box. Car will run like sh1t until you fix it.

Well the car runs alright at the moment ... only stalls when clutch is moved out too fast ...
Sounds alright and doesnt miss a beat. yet speedo aint working ...
I will take the cluster out and resolder the joints and test ... if not ... i will get a transducer/sender thing for my gearbox ...

Naa i tried that, that was the first thing i did. After mums sticky feul guages in her VN i kinda got the impression it was stuck. But it seems something more. I will try the transducer this weekend and see if that works, If not i will buy a calais cluster ...
