help!!! car getting hot?
hi,
my vp has been sitting for about 12 months and i got it registered and put it back on the road yesterday. when i took it off the road it was running fine no dramas at all but now when i drive it and have to stop and idle for a couple of minutes my temperature gauge rises while ever the car is driving it's fine it runs on the first little notch but when i stop??? it's not using any water and my thermo fan seems to be working ok! any ideas would be appreciated!
when you say it rises where does it rise to?...if its only half way up the gauge or under then thats completely normal. any higher and there may be some dramas (possibly a blocked radiator, or thermostat problems).
it is climbing above the halfway mark i haven't let it boil over but i think if i let it idle too long it would!

are my thoughts at present. Was it filled with coolant, and how old was it?

Yeah, give the radiator a flush and if that don't work buy a new thermostat.
