hey just want ur opinion which is more worth it the VS CAI or the SSinductions 1? with the SS Inductions one it says "The standard restrictive system draws air from behind the headlight, delivering engine heat and disruptive flow.
SS Inductions’ Big Mouth™ system channels air from the front of the moving car and rams it through the chunky induction directly to the larger intake connected to the standard airbox. The opening in the lower airbox must be enlarged as part of the fitting process.
Expect up to 8kW increase at the rear wheels, smoother performance, more responsive throttle and a considerable fuel saving.
The two-part kit consists of plastic induction unit with double mouth opening and plastic connecting intake. RRP $299.00."
But with $100 difference or more wanted 2 know some opinions

Thats the VS CAI setup.Originally Posted by 89vncommy
VS CAI all the way. SS inductions one really is not worth it.
As you said, SS Inductions = RRP $299.00... VS CAI = $55 from Holden.
i would stick to the VS S/C CAI personally. cant justify the extra $200 or so
S/C CAI all the way man. Stuff paying $300 for the same thing as the $55 version. Personally I would think that the S/C would do just as good if not beter then the SS ones. All you need to do if modify the CAI a bit and you all set man. Check out my thread and see my CAI setup.

Where do i get the VS S/C CAI? Im thinking about getting one. Is it defenly going to fit?? because i dont want to buy it if its not going to fit. There is a new commonwealth motors opened up where i live. would i be able to walk in there and ask for a S/C CAI for $60?? cheers
Australia. Love it or leave it
I 100% gaurentee it will fit. You can go to any Holden dealer, go to the Parts area and ask to buy a S/C VS CAI should come with the CAI scoop thingy, the attachment pipe from the scoop to the stock airbox (that you WILL have to cut a bit to make it clip into) and 3 plastic screws to hold the CAI down. All up cost me $58 from Holden, you won't find any cheeper.
Rember there is a V8 CAI and a V6 CAI. V8 can fit on the v6 but the v6 cant fit on the v8. the v8 has a bigger fan shroud. I had a V8 CAI on my vn 6. There is a big appearence differnece between the 2 versions also.
Hey i was just looking at my mums series2 VN and her are box has another piece attached that mine doesnt have (i have a series1). Is mine meant to have one or is it just sorta like a cai??

Yep the nose on your airbox has gone missing, it's supposed to be the same as your mums carOriginally Posted by coolvncommodore
thought so. I didnt even relise till i just looked at mums and noticed it was diff. I just called commonwealth motors and they have C/S CAI for under $60 so i will go grab one tomorrow. hope they are not too hard to fit. i dont need that nose to fit the CAI do i?

Nope the hole that the original nose plugs into has to be cut around the corner a bit to plug the much larger VS bit into anyways (go slow and carefull so you don't cut it too big) and when you are done wack some silicon or something around it, the more sealed up it is, the better. Depending on your car you might also have to hit the inlet section with a heat gun and then close the bonnet on it to mould it to the shape on the VN bonnet in a couple of places too or you can lower the radiator down slightly (they are all a bit different so you wont know till you try)
Sounds easy enough. Thanks greenfoam!

No. You get a new nose to connect onto the CAI.

Yeh, all new cars came with it Wes. Just that most 2nd hand ones are missing for an odd reason.
Just got my my new CAI from commonwealth motors. It was about $60 but i got it for 50 cash soi thought that was an alright deal. I will have to wait till saturday to fit it. Whats the best thing to use to cut the airbox into the right shape???
I hope i got the right CAI. i asked for a VS S/C CAI and they gave me this one. Does it look right?
Australia. Love it or leave it
yes that is the right one.
i used a hacksaw blade its piss easy to do 30mins is all it took me![]()
and $50 is alrite i got mine for $55
Adam
Yeah, hacksaw blade or a copeing saw will do it nicely. And yes that is the right one.
don't forget to then heat up the plastic when putting on the CAI, and also remember not to screw in to the radiator too hard!
to heat up the plastic CAI, i just boiled the kettle, poured water on it, and then slammed the bonnet. i had to do it twice, but after that it worked fine.
and mate the VS S/C CAI... works a treat too. In my VP i noticed fuel consumption about 1L/100km less (based on the Calais digital reading) so that's pretty good.
i must be lucky cause i didnt have to heat mine up.
it fits perfectly![]()
Adam
yea well for sum reason mines missing and in the air box has been cut out alot more, so ill be needing a new airbox when i got 2 fit mine when i get that.
