hey guys,
yesterday i noticed that my sway bar link bushes were no longer there.. (litrally)
the old ones had cracked and fallen out, so i picked up some new nolathan ones so i didnt smack my self into a wall, without links...
anyway came to today to removing the old link and i got the top nut off, but the bottom nut wont come off... the link is being held stationary and the nut is turning.. but its not comming off... either way.. wont tighten/loosten
is there any trick to this?? i have a bad feeling im gonna have to take the angle grinder out and cut it off...
i can get a new link from the wreckers no problem just a pain in the ass
any suggestions to getting this bastard off???
Yes, Just cut the ###er right off man, Go and buy that link pin kit from nolothane and you've got all the parts you need bro, all the nuts, bushes and pins all there.
Near the bottom of the link or pin, or whatever you call it, theres a bit you can get a spanner on - you hold that while undoing the top nut. Otherwise the whole thing spins, and you get nowhere..
Yeah, he said that the link pin is being held stationary tho...I say cut it off.
it sounds to me like the nut is striped so your gonna have to get the old angle grinder out and cut it off
get one from the wreakers and ask for the nuts with it
Stato on the inside, berlina on the out side,5ltr under the bonnet, stockies all round...........that thing has to be a sleeper

lol.... if you cant fix it... grind it!!!!
Yeah, Had to angle grind the nut from the Z bar thats connected to my lower controll arm, that nut woudnt come off. That is untill the angle grinder came out and a set of vice grips!
really?? i have to remove that because of my smacked up wheel where did u get your new Z bar from and how much??? does the Z bar control the position of the wheel???? im trying to find out whats caused my wheel sitting in
whats bent lol
I got a whole K frame with Struts, calipers, controll arms, link pins,Z bars, steering rack, etc from a mates wrecked VN for free, But im sure they dont cost much man. I can't remember what exactly its connected too lol, I know 1 end is to the controll arm.
Pedders sell new z bars, and yes this will effect your toe in.
thanks mate might give em a call tommorrow, any idea on price???Originally Posted by genIIIbandit
thats the word, toe in... what else would effect toe in???
im hoping K Frame isnt bent...
put a set on me vr bout 6 year ago and got z bars for $75 each trade, and yerr my k frame was out a bit also.
Got em from pedders in scorsby
aight might get 2nd hand ones, just find a straight car
wasnt till i got a wheel align that I realised that the z bar was bent! Hard to tell by looking if they are straight, just gotta get lucky!
yeah, i wont really be checking the z bar, more the placement of the wheel, and hte paint work to see if its taken a hit on that side
Like a few others have said, I'd really reccomend using upgraded links, whether it's the heavy duty VN style ones or the early bird style ones they've both got significant advantages over the standard ones. I had a similar problem when I installed heavy duty links. The nut on the bottom of the left hand link would not bloody move no matter what I tried, eventually I applied so much force that the link sheared in two. So yeah, angle grinder would probably be the best option.
Beau Duke: Man, I'm never gonna get outta this car again. I'm gonna live in it, I'm gonna eat in it and I'm gonna make sweet love to it!
Luke Duke: You mean you're gonna make sweet love IN it.
Beau Duke: Oh no, I'm gonna have sex with it.
