a mate of mine can get me an 85mm tb and i was wondering if i would have to upgrade my engine at all or if it would be alright to just chuck straight on???
"A life lived in fear is a life half lived"
thats what i thought, i was gonna just go a 72mm but he told me today he can get the 85mm so i think i might go that![]()
"A life lived in fear is a life half lived"
wats it off? coz u wont get 85mm out of a vn tb.
i think itd be close to overkill, but if u can get it cheap, organise a dynorun and try stock then 85mm, see what it does.
got any other mods to justify it?
i don't know what it is of but i will have to wait and see it and no i dont have any other mods it's pretty much stock engine
"A life lived in fear is a life half lived"
id look into 1st... i kno oversized tb's can make ur engine idle real high
i;d be able to adjust the timing tho to suit it yeah?
"A life lived in fear is a life half lived"
It shouldnt make any major difference to idle...
But the biggest you can get out of a VN throttle body is 71mm... So I dont think its gonna fit your car man, unless its a full custom throttle body.
I have seen a 90mm custom on a VN before.
The 90mm ones ar from Starr Performance. They only fit on because of the customised neck welded on to the factory inlet manifold.Originally Posted by 1991_Vn2nV
I cant see how you will fit this throttle body on mate.........

Selling FG G6E Turbo and buying a N/A Supra
I actually saw the 90mm one on a V6 VN with a custom intake manifold. Was probably Starr Performance yeah..Originally Posted by AirStrike
to be honost, if you havnt got the mods to use the extra air flow then its not gonna do much, id go with hakhawk and say its overkill
yeah i might just stick with the 71mm for now and get the 85mm later on when ive done a bit more to the engine
"A life lived in fear is a life half lived"
sounds way to big, whats the size of the intake on the manifold, theres no point going bigger then that as the intake will be the biggest restriction unless you mod the intake manifold to suit the bigger throttle body
Actually some people believe that having an oversized throttle body and a big CAI setup can give a sort of tunnel ram effect into the manifold. I dunno how well it works i've only got hearsay evidence.Originally Posted by immortality

lol 85mm, either ur planning on some serious cam and head work or u have just been dared to do this lol
you could just get it, fit it, if it doesn't do anything, get rid of it OR fit a bigger cam etc and go for gold
