Does anyone know what the fastest recorded vn v6 1/4 mile time is?
I have got a vn v6 that I have dedicated to dragging and was curious about how fast these things have gone...I think I have heard about an 11.something sec pass before.
This is all just from memory but without a turbo The record is somewhere around 13.7?, there's three cars that have been in the 13's. Vengence pre turbo with a high 13, A stroked VN?(which has the most mph and most potential but the owner is in the states?) and a mega worked standard stroke (which has the record)
What about CHARG6?

11.4sec ET @ 117mph (Although L67 isn't that the ecotec s/c engine?)

10 sec VN wagon, there is a thread about it on another commodore forum (to do with some magazine about commodores)
"some specs on the car are Vn v6 wagon, series 1 engine, turbocharged, custom manifolds, th400 transmission with trans brake and 4500rpm converter, modified borg warner with 31 spline semi floating axles."
pay attention man :P I said no turbo what I ment and what I should have saidis non boosted, you cant really ask how fast a VN or anything has gone with boost because it just depends how much boost you screwed into it and how much money you had for stronger parts. But yes for a NA VN if you do a 13.5 right now you will be king
Forced induction or N/A shouldn't matter, we are just talking VN V6...it's not like we have a broad spectrum of 10 - 12 sec cars to profile.
in the US they have the humble buick 3.8 fitted standard with a turbo. i've seen these in forums overthere claiming in excess of a 1000hp. so a might VN with one of these should do a 10s 1/4 no probs HP=$$$$![]()

VN exec T5: 15.1sec @92.2mph 1/4 mile, 9.7sec @ 74.6mph 1/8mile, 2.3sec 60ft, 0-60mph 6.827sec 22/11/07 Gtech competition
Yeah there are 100's of buick v6's way under 10 seconds in the states with pretty much the same motor. I've seen videos of a few with 1600hp. Theres no reason why it wouldn't be the same deal here if you wanted to do it, I know the pistons and rods fit so I guess the crank does too
heared of 12's in a NA v6 VN, changed the cam, rockers de comp pistons and a few other things im still trying to find out so i can do to mine
geezus, 12s in a n/a is pretty good. At the moment I havent made any internal work, just weight reduction, zorst, cold air, chip, mini spool etc etc. I thought ill try to see if I could get close to the n/a record, but if it is in the 12s I dont think I have a hope in hell. I am going to aim for 12s though, but thats with a lil blue bottle later on.
sic, love the nos! twood burn through the pocket pritty quick tho.
im getting my mums vn 5l mid next year and am going to aim for 12's and keep as a street car, daily drive, without forced induction...
dude, seriously...12's in a n/a v6 is REALLY setting your sights high. and i honestly think it would be close to impossible for a street registered car.
i have stock v6 vn ran a 13.09 at 103mph help from nitrous 150 hp
i will be going back with a re done chip and an extra 50 hp of nos
ROFLCOPTER, Nice way to kill the poor old VN. LOL.
lol you'd be suprised mack i know someone who ran 10s in his vn calais v6 with 250hp shots of nos, it was N/A i think....
boost is the eastiest way to gain mega power and shed those seconds, and we all know it.. also cheaper than a full rebuild
I was talking to someone that did a 10.3 in a VN SS with a 150 shot on MSN the other night
Yeah.. my mate uleh had a fully sik VN with the NOS mate!
And a blow off valve mate
and ran his air conditioner into the intake mate.
ran 12s trying to run from the cops... sik as ay!?
i was like... maaaaaaaate
and he was all like... yeah fully!
(that was just jokes)
Seriously, the street commodores magazine had some project VN and they got it running high 11 sec passes with a rebuild and T04 turbo or something.
Spent only about 16Gs on the car and mods too, pretty cheap for an 11sec car.
Turbo is the way for cheap power, but like all cheap things, its also nasty.
Turbo power delivery is not smooth, its not consistent and its not reliable.
I'd choose a supercharger any day... but i guess there arent as many boost options with a blower.
Drag = Turbo
Street = Blower
Granny = N/A
why is a turbo not reliable?
if the person who set's it up know what they are doing it will make more power than blower setup same boost
why are all the quick ls1 turbo ?
no problems there
How bout this? ITT 38L ran 9.981@137.88mph (373rwkw) Twin Turbo setup using a pair of Garrett T28's at 20 psiIssue 115 SC.
Thought ill add this link to!

What you think?
For drag racing i find turbos to be fine. just from personal experience i found turbos to be less reliable than their blower counterparts.
If i had a dollar for every turbo i know of that has blown a seal, seized up, blown gaskets and engines, caused massive heat and exhaust pipe problems etc etc....
I guess a lot of it can come down to the attitude of the drivers too, turbo's do inspire the hoon in most of us.
Turbos are a very good easy and efficient source of power, I just personally prefer a SC.
mate has a 300rwkw vn, ex drag car dunno what the 1/4 mile is tho
