Hey all... Last night on my lil bit of a drive I noticed some really weird things.....
On full lock my steering was like it had a spool = ?Diff on its way out?
Hard Punch in 2nd = ?Engine Light?
Weird !CLUNK! noise in back left of car = ?NO IDEA?
Apart from that she's beautiful...
Any help appreciated

Although the had punch in second... is that only when its cold or not? Definitely sounds like its something to do with the diff.
i wonder if youre having the same rear clunking noises as my car

Rear clunk noise may be bushes or perhaps one of your exhaust brackets ?
Is it only under load or when you are turning or is it a constant thing ?
Have you done a fault code test yet matt?

No fault codes come up........ She's clean....
Clunk comes from back left when i put foot on accelerator...
I'll see how she is later on, I found some coins, that'll fill my gas tank up, goin to go see a friend tonight, an go cruising... See if anything happens again...
Just the 2nd gear engine light..... Not worrying me just a bit of a head ****...
No idea if she leans out around 3800-4800rpm or what... That could be a possibility though. But only 2nd gear... Does it on petrol & gas.

if its got factory cruise check your brake lights the cruise operates on that

ive got a rear clunk sometimes it happends on a rolling start. Think its the diff, could be the tranny though.![]()
Left side clunk under load may be the bushes or panhard rod, I had a similiar clunk from the rear of the wagon and changed upper and lower trailing arm bushes and clunk has now gone

mine makes the clunking noise aswell but its only say if i drop it into reverse on a cold morning, dosnt happen often
i have similar problems with my vn v6 5speed
i have a bit of a clunk (diff?)when i on/off the throttle,
and wen i nail it off the line it makes a noise that sounds like bearings or
grinding or something.
does anyone know what this is and how to fix it?

The clunk is probably the backlash in the diff. Both my LSD and open diff are quite loud dropping the clutch and on and off the throttle (I notice it beacause I don't have a stereo). I've never been worried about it, I give it heaps and both the diffs are still holding up. I'm in the process of tightening up the LSD though. Just have to get the right thickness of shims so it's just off being a lockerOriginally Posted by ashzv6
and not so much backlash. Is your diff an LSD? Because LSDs do make quite a bit of noise at times, especially if you're nailing it, like the clutches slipping and stuff.
Hozy did you mean one wheel was skipping at full lock? You have an LSD right?

Mat had a spool at once?
My nephew had this crack sound from the left side not always but sounded like metal cracking with a glass crack also. He done the diff, It only did it turning one way. They had the whole rear looked at to be sure and found the diff was gone.
Many mechanics will look over a car if they have the time for nothing and tell you whats wrong and how much. I's how i found a crack in the tailshaft.
