    Default temp sensor location??

got a q on the location on the coolant temp sensor on a vn V6??
my bro wants to put on a aftermarket water temp gauge....

according to the stupid Max Elery manual its supposed to be at the back of the block... one is supposed to be a "coolant sensor unit" & the other a "coolant temp sender unit"....

I can only see one sensor on the block at the back... I unplugged the connector it to see if the temp gauge would drop in the car... stayed the same... but for some reason the transmission light came on??

anyideas of where the sensor is locate so can put this gauge in...

if it is a series one then it is at the back of the inlet manifold, series two are under the alternator, for which you have to take off to get to.

91 i think its a series two, does it have one square coil pack (s1) or three individual round coil packs (s2)
follow the top radiator hose, it would connect to the inlet manifold area directly (s2) or connect to a metal pipe which goes to the back of the block (s1).
But to install an after market coolant temp sensor you probaly need an adaptor which connects directly to your top radiator hose like i have.

not always mine has 3 coils and its a s1

you can tell by the "thermostat" is located near the air inlet tb at the back of the inlet manifold, where the s2 its at the front left
