sup guys jsut a quik question my tempreature gauge aint working and im not sure if its the cluster or the senosor. firstly where do i find the sensor on a S1 vn (eg what color wire) and is there anyway to test the sesnor or the cluster ie with a mulitimeter or test light to find out what wrong.
cheers
i suppose you've bashed the dash?
probably cluster is not connecting properly, try taking it out then putting it back in again.
We got rep back, yaaay!
have you tried:
Solution to Sticky fuel/temp guages
they suggest the problem you have is related to some dry joints in the instrument cluster
Yeah probly the cluster, there are threads on how to fix.... the gauge sender is found under the throttle body i think, it has a single wire coming out of it, you can take it out and see measure the resistance in different temperatures of water and compare that against the specs found in a gregories to see if its in working range, but i highly doubt its the sender, more likely the cluster.
At least on the series one. Both temp sensors (gauge and ecu) are in the back of the inlet manifold
Stato on the inside, berlina on the out side,5ltr under the bonnet, stockies all round...........that thing has to be a sleeper

You wouldnt get an error code if its the guage sensor as the computer uses its own sensor.
Im not a complete idiot, some parts are still on backorder!
does it?? In S1 the one on the top under the Throt body with the single green wire is the Sender to the Guage??? and has nothing to do with the ecu?? cos i snapped the top off that one a few weeks back and i went to the auto shop down the road and got another and when i put it in i got the code for Temp sensor Voltage too high then the fan stayed on and it carried on like a fool then i went to pick a part n got one off another vn changed it with the Suspect one and hey presto no error codes again...... maybe it was just throwin the voltages out or somthing........ dunno seems weird
