what 0-100 times can you run with a stock vn? i cant seem to break in to the 7 second mark, heres what i got: 8.3, 8.1, 8.5 (note; its an auto). ive herd of stock vn'z getting into 7 second mark has any one done this???
Stalling it up a bit with good tyres and no extra weight, breaking the 7 second mark should be do-able I think... depending on the condition of the engine.
How many k's has yours done?
Possible to get in the 7's, as mentioned condition of the engine and road.
Best time Ive pulled was a 7.3, that was before my zorst and other mods. I have new tred now and a better gearbox, I want to see how I run now...
my best is a 7.6 sec 0-60mph and 15.8sec 1/4 measured with a G-tech, standard engine with a pod (not shielded) and headers but standard zorst including a stuffed muffler. single spinner with 235/45 17" bridgestones but only about 1.5mm tread(read stuffed) and a full tank of gas(it seems to have better traction with just a little weight over the rear tyres. 116km's on the clock, oh and it's a manual. i've been experimenting with different shift points etc and launch rpm but i don't see much point in revving the engine over 4800rpm in anything above 1st gear as it makes it's peak power at 4700rpm and peak torque about 3800rpm (s1 VN)

VN exec T5: 15.1sec @92.2mph 1/4 mile, 9.7sec @ 74.6mph 1/8mile, 2.3sec 60ft, 0-60mph 6.827sec 22/11/07 Gtech competition
It depends on the drivers weight too but if you can stall it up without wheelspin with just 15 liters in the tank and get a just right shift from first to 2nd you should be able to drop a 8.1 into the 7's. Another 5 rwkw will see you thereso it's just a couple little tweaks away, mine never ran in the 8's anymore in it's final days, it was consitantly 6.9-7.15 on the gtech to 60mph.
That was with a ported throttle body and a few other things smoothened and lined up straighter than the factory made it. Opened up VS CAI and a chip also ran high 15.3's fairly often over the 1/4 mile, high 15.3's with a chip and 15.55 with the ATFY stock one. That was shifting at 5000-5200 rpm
the cars got about 155k but the engine is in good nik.
i stalled it up to about 2000rpm, my best time of 8.1 was bout 1/4 tank of petrol and min weight possible (sub taken out and no one in the car) but like immortality said before it has more traction with the weight at the back
I did a bogey time on a voice recorderMaybe just under 9sec first time then just under 8 second time. Would love a g-tech.
I got great grip now my old tyres would spin but the new ones are great for take off grip.

i got my vn into high 7's with brand spanking new 225's on the back n a pod (auto)
Sorry to pop this one up again got my twin throts on but had to run it thro a maf so sh'e being strangled gotta get it tuned a bit better
but standard vs ecotec auto no exhaust or anything just a cai and factory air cleaner with 2 ppl in the car i got a flat 7.0 seconds 0-100kms twice
and i still have to let the comp sort its shit out that was the first outing
Sounds abit extream, was that on a Gtech? 7flat with just twin T/B and 2 extra people in the car???

i had my vp v6 exec auto with extractors, 2.5 inch exhaust, powerchip and shift kit pull a mid 7 second pass (with no extra weight and next to no fuel in the tank)
It all comes down to the condition of the transmission in an auto, it affects takeoff speed/response, gear change & overall pickup through each gear. If you have a healthy motor with minimal restriction on the auto/diff you can see those times with a bit of mild tweaking.
My old VN used to get high 7sec 0-60mph!
But my charger will pull 6sec flat of the factory floor![]()

0-60mph is one thing, add another .6-.8 of a second and youve got your 0-100km/h times for a v6.
In my v8 0-60mph best time is 6.3 but 0-100km/h best time is 6.8![]()
lol.......
0-60mph = 0-96kmh, thats 4kmh difference from 100 and you add .6 or .8 onto your time? seems wrong
Cant remember what my VN would do, but it would fly to 60-70 then take the rest of the time to make 100 probably about 7.5-8 secs with just an exhaust and cai and motor with 300,000 kms then again that was with just the **** poor tyres I always with hardly any tread. If I did a morton and removed all deadener, got a tune and had better tyres that car would easily do a 7 maybe a lil under since his was doing 0-100 in 6
was that on a gtech? to be doing a true 100km/h the dash reads 105 km/h or JUST under...
my exact 0-60mph on the gtech is between 6.3 and 6.65 on a good launch and 0-100 km/h is 6.8-7.0 meaning theres a .5 of a second difference between 0-60 & 0-100, stock vn v8 auto.
on a 6.7 0-60mph i get the following (only results i have on my pc)
0-10km/h- .4 secs
0-20km/h- .7 secs
0-30km/h- .1.2 secs
0-40km/h- 1.9 secs
0-50km/h- 2.7 secs
0-60km/h- 3.5 secs
0-70km/h- 4.2 secs
0-80km/h- 5.0secs
0-90km/h- 6.0 secs
0-100km/h- 7.0 secs
Thats an average run but can get it lower if i get full traction off the mark and some wheelspin thorugh mid-high first gear
Nah that was with my mates stop watch an he started it b4 i started moving an stopped it when i was about 104km/h so would prolly do better if it was timed properly
cheapest way is to take a video of your car and time it on the computer by slowing down the frame rate, youll get within .2 of a second or so accuracy
In a car that runs in the 6-7 second range the difference between 60mph and 100km/h is about .2 or .3 of a second. If it takes your car half a second to make another 2mph something is buggered
edit: I've found a page that says 1.05 x the 60mph time is pretty accurate
What I find the easiest way to tell if a 5 litre commodore is fast or not is how long does it take to complete shift out of 1st gear (on 3.08s). A normal one will take exactly 3.5 seconds but a fast one will be down near 3 seconds flat
