help pimp the CALAIS!!!!!!!

hey guys, looking for opinions, car comes back from the workshop soon with a complete group A kit and fully fixed...

now im looking to make this into a show car with a bit of power, nothing over the top but nothing not worthy of showing,

im hoping to have it in auto salon round 2 next year, so i need to start work,

i just purchased a bag of perl flakes from america, should have them in a few weeks, they mix with clear coat to give a effect like this



thats the look i wanna go for, what else could i do to pimp the cars exterior out ???

other things ive been thinking of
FULL respray
Black tinted tail lights to match the boot garnish
Lightly tinted headlights
maybe a bonnet scoop

other things i was thinking of was smoothing out the boot garnish because ive got a remote pop lock for the boot,
and NO i dont want to "colour code" my mirrors :P

That pic you posted is of a pearl, not a flake.
I would spray it in straight white tinter on top, HSV Hi Ho Silver (HSV wheel colour) on the bottom, with a silver flake.
The tinted light thing is really a backyard amature thing, not show worthy. You will never see a show car nightshaded up.
Scoops are only good when they serve a purpose.
On such a short time frame you would want the kit on and all panel gaps correct, painted and new rims. Then work on the interior, custom touches, retrim and extra bolstering, etc.
Finally you wont get the engine swapped in this amount of time so keep the 6 and just tidy/detail it all.

yeeah pimped out boot is on the agenda, got a price on 2x15" IMPP pioneers, $130 a peice, thats bloody cost price!!!!!!!!

I like the black handles on a white VN .. I was thinking of painting mine the same colour as the car, but when I took the photo's last night, I kind of like the contrast... Goes well with the tint and the black window surroundings..

Nice ride.....! Where did you find that pic. I'm heaps interested in makin my commie a 2 door, thats would be awesome. Certainly turn some heads thats for sure. Where can you get this done??? You would have to get full custom guards and doors made up but where from??

i like them black, was thinking of spraying those grey window seals black for a stronger look... time will tell, ive got half a grand sitting here waiting to dump into new supplies, and scored a free stock VT exhust so i might do something with it or save it for charger piping

- GroupA kit, isnt going to make your car pimp.. Youve alredy gone the wrong way.

But these are the mods id go for if wanting a cleaner, less SS/HSV look of a car.
- Different set of rims probarbly off a Statesman/Grange.. Big multiple spokes.
- Dark Tint 20-15%
- Shaving the door handles shaving the boot locks etc.
- Upgrading all headlight globes, a clean look is a White look.. Not yellow globes
Get some Philips globes.

If you wanna do something wild with your doors, maybe those "scissor" style opening doors, or have your rear doors open the opposite way, with the hinges on the back of the door instead of the front? Going 2 door would be cool, but i reckon it would cost heaps, plus you would prob have to get it engineered, custom glass, custom doors........

looks SOOO PIMPED in my brothers GTO... i recon jsut inside handels tho, im thinking of painting my cluster panel (not the gauges but the panel round it)

what theme? ive painted my centre console part silver and it looks good in a white car. would suit yours even more in a white/silver car.

or perhaps you could get a woodgrain centre console kit off ebay, or maybe even a centre console out of a VS s2 calais

Go scissor doors at the front and suicide doors on the rear! You could also try the bootlid mod that Hinterland has done to his VT. Really deep pile carpets are in order for a pimped ride too. HID conversion for the headlights I reckon. And I don't know if it would work on a VN with the bonnet opening normally (might have to make it open forwards), but how about extending the rear of the bonnet to hide most of the windscreen wipers when not in use? Seen that done and it looked awesome.
