Just wondered what all you guys and girls VN/P's would be in their ultimate form?
My 5 liter VP would be something like
VS IRS hubs and LSD
Superlow springs in the front to counter the fat strut bearings that are in it
Two jap import spec t28 turbos on the 304 @ 8-10 psi
2 bar map sensor
LPG
Tremec T56 manual
VN GroupA rotors/calipers
repainted SV5000 british racing green
Carpet removed and nice shiny repaint on the floor
Visit to vicroads engineer
That would be all easy enough to DIY and run comfortable 12's, but would still cost 10 grand or so![]()

ok, this is nowhere near as organised as jasons post, but meh
ok, main car:
worked 6
my custom intake manifold
grp a kit
fresh paint
no panel dings
shiftkitted manual shifting t700
project wagon, way too much to list and reveal at this time.
Lots. Raptor SC, dual exhaust out each side, new custom bonnet, respray, re-do the sound system, full black, blue and white interior, 19" XHP Chrome Rims etc. etc.
Ummm.....hell tough? It's the best I can think of this at this hour of the morning, but ultimately, it's have damn good looks, and the power in the motor to match!

Tomorrow doesn't look good either.
God must love stupid people, He made so many.
LX torana hatch
supercharged LS1, 6 speed manual, detroit locker 9"....
some hotwires with 265 rubber on the back
flared and scooped (to fit charger?)
red/black, quad pipes, power steering, aircon, retro-tech interior (new monaro seats or something to that extent, power windows, sat nav)...
all bushes/balljoints redone...
... daily driven.

I've actually put a LOT of thought into this over the last coupla months. Whether I'll manage to pull it off is an entirely different matter, mainly depends on how much stuff breaks and requires repairing, hence drawing vital funds away from the mod budget. Anyway here goes.
Powerplant
-NA five litre.
-ACL flat tops and zero deck height yielding around 10.5:1 comp.
-mild to warmish cam, something like a crane 276.
-standard heads, maybe tidied up a little and some heavier valve springs perhaps.
-standard bunch of bananas, maybe tidied up a bit as well
-70mm TB.
-Blue top 24lb injectors, rest of the standard fuel system should cope ok, maybe a different regulator.
-tri-y pacemakers and 3 inch exhaust.
-topped off with a dyno tune should be seeing around the 190rwkw mark if my research is accurate and I don't **** up the assembly.
Drivetrain
-T56, the holden ratio set with that insanely tall top gear.
-LSD diff with 4.11:1 gears. Coupled with the 0.5:1 top gear in the T56, this turns out roughly the same final drive as the standard box and diff gears. Should give it a nice pep in it's step through the lower gears as well.![]()
Extra fun bits that are worth mentioning
-16*8 rims running 245/50R16's at the back
-16*7 rims running 225/55R16's at the front
-VT brakes.
-Oh and a baffled goddamned sump, oil surge gives me the shits.
Anyway, theres the plan that will keep me busy and poor for the next couple of years/decades. Of course there are a multitude of necessary (and expensive) bits and pieces I haven't included, but thats the core of it. I'm just too tired to think it out too fully at the moment, that's what engineering law lectures are for.

hehe, that IS well thunk out panda. I like the idea of natural aspiration, too.
Personally, I'd love a big, clumsy, brutish VP drift whore:
Heart
- 5.0 V8, 5spd manual
- moderately powerful supercharger setup, pumping around 1bar (not my knowledge forte)
- worked heads
- moderately aggressive cam
- good set of extractors
- twin-cat twin-exhaust, flowing a little more freely than the EPA would like
- IRS ofc
- good quality LSD with higher ratio gears, not sure how high
- good solid bushes and bearings all 'round
- better brakes. MUCH better brakes.
Body
- custom 16*8 polished silver interceptors with good 235" rubber on all four corners
- custom flared wheel arches
- dropped nice and low, perhaps on the bump-stops
- stripped interior. no rear seats, no sound deadening, no sound system, no door trim, no roof trim... right down to the polished metal.
- two body-hugging race seats an a phat roll cage.
... yeah. I can dream.![]()

I don't think mine will ever happen to this extent, but here's what i've thought about.
L67 transplant
Manual conversion with LSD
Polished bits and pieces round the engine bay
Fully adjustable suspension all round
VT brake setup
VZ Maloo rims
VN SS front/rear/sideskirts textured and painted grey (so it looks almost like it does now, just chunkier)
Shaved doorhandles/locks and boot lock
Rear lights with clear indicator and reverse lights
HID conversion for headlights
Full retrim in black leather with black carpets
White dial faces/heater control surround
I think thats about it, but i've probably missed something!
Not a bad start for a dream, but then you've gotta think of all the other things that it's going to require. For example, 1bar = 14.5 psi = big boost, thats gonna require a VERY tough bottom end, standard compression would do, but you'd need 4bolt mains and forged crank/rods/pistons for a start. Of course with boost like that your intake charge is gonna get hot, requiring an intercooler. The power produced is going to be fairly phenomenal, and as you want to drift, an auto is not ideal, if it's just going to be track drift a tough 4-speed like a top loader would be the go. Now the dream is really starting to flesh out a bit. The first step in turning a dream into reality is to plan in detail how you're going to do it, plus it's heaps of fun!

All I need now is that winning lottery ticket, and twelve spare months to rebound the car from workshop to workshop. ^^
Thinking of all the custom block work for a charged/turbo'd engine just makes me want to cry. My mate Michael spent $50,000 on his VL turbo engine, and still managed to blow it up. Twice. The second time was at just over 2bar... threw a 'rod. Go figure.![]()

I would like to ad a L67 to my car. But have the engine stroked and strengthen hard, Set the blower to max, And the do some heavy duty work on the tranny, Maybe a 6 speed manual i have herd of some blokes that have done it somewhere in oz to these engines same holden 6 speed but with mustang ratios. VZ SS vents monaro bonnet vents with maybe some stripes down the middle over them like the LE GTO.
Would love to see twin dump pipes popping out the back but with the tank hard. LSD big brakes and pretty much a ruff look at what I'm after is a chop up i did with MS paint the other day. I can't really do what i want cant ad vents etc.
I'd be looking for 230RWKW 500+Nm.

only good cops a dead cop...

t3/t4 front mounted turbo

Nothin too fancy for me, and not too expensive.
VP Calais stock

2.5" catback exhaust (done)
SC CAI (done)
Simmons wheels (done)
Kings Springs Super Lows (done)
But then...
VS Calais S/C Ecotec Engine
Heavy duty brass button clutch
Pacemaker extractors
A wiper for the rear windscreen!
So my thinkin is i need about another 3K and i should ahve about 170rwkw![]()
laughs... no maybe if you are a conversion specialist you might b able to scrape by with doin that s/c engine for 3k The convert will be nearer to 5k . Not including extractors and clutch.

I'm just happy with the attached photo![]()
It doesn't have the same top end as the VY but really hooks into the corners and leaves it for dead!
Reaper
Hey Reaper I bet it sounds faster on the top end![]()

I asked all the questions what size is the part that sits on the dash it's very small dome like you see in the middle of the VE's it can sit in the corner of the dash. Turns them on as soon as the car turns off they go off too.
It's fine for commodores.
I knew the VP Calais had suto lights maybe this is what they used?

I wonder if that has a delay on it, my wifes jeep leaves the headlights on for 30 seconds or so after the cars off so you can navigate your way out of the shed or into the house. Very handy for people in the bush that don't have 24 hour light pollution like the city people : ), I never get used to sleeping in Melbourne and seeing a glow come in the windows of the house in the middle of the night (oddness)
