Yo dudes
Took my monthly trip to the wreckers, and sourced myself a nice little set of equipment for the commodore.
I was scrubbing around in the dirt, looking for a car with FE2 springs, when I knocked some mud off one of the springs... and it was yellow! Fancy that. I frantically chiselled all the crud off, and discovered low King springs on all four corners. The rear shockers were Pedders Comfort Gas, (shorter-throw I'm presuming), and the front struts didn't show any sign of leaking, so I can't do much but assume for now that they're Pedders struts too.
Blokes at the wreckers said they'll flog me the lot for $200, and another $200 will see them installed and ready to go
I'm assuming from the looks, that they were only low springs - but that's exactly what I'm afterA little nicer to drive, a little nicer to look at, but not slammed. They're going in Monday, and I can hardly wait!
Anything I should look out for or be weary of? Any advice to offer or stories to tell? Let's hope the shocks are in good nick![]()

There not shortened rear shocks & there not shortened front shocks...
Lows will be same height/slightly higher than fe2.
Cheers

edit: from memory FE2 is about 2" lower, and Kings Lows are about 40mm (1.5") lower... would I be right?

Kings Springs Lows are around 30mm lower. And yes FE2 is 2" lower.
So they will be higher than FE2, however it depends on the springs to a degree.
they looked lower than 30mm on the back of the car at the wreckers... although that could be due to a number of things. I don't even know for sure yet if they're lows![]()

Was the tyre in the guard? If it was in the guard then they're Superlows.
Lows or super lows, either way it will change your car for the better x 10![]()
I hope they're just lowsI'm not after any attention, that's for sure ^^ We'll see on Monday!
(I just called the blokes at the wreckers, and they said they've taken everything out, had a look at the kings springs, and they measure around 45mm lower than a stock spring. Looks like worn-in Lows)

I know what you meanI generally pop down to my wreckers (it's a decent 20min drive) once a month, just to walk around and 'graze'.
I'm seriously looking at a pair of statesman front seats in good nick for $200... I'm just not sure if the grey would clash with my blue interior, and I'm reluctant to pile that on my credit card, on top of the springs/shocks
edit: I'll take some pics when I get them put in, RavenShould happen on Monday.

lol foam, i thought stock springs were fine :P
once u start dropping it, u never stop.. u go hrm maybe another inch...
maybe another 2 before u know it its 70mm off the ground and the guys at teh chassis shop cant get it into teh work shop and need to lay down wood planks to get it in !!!! LOL still handels like its superglued to the road now thats win RAR!!!
I think they get it all wrong, When they say 30mm they mean 20mmi got superlows and the bloke said front guards would cover the top of the tyre and the rear tyre would sit above the tyre thats why people go ultra on the rear, thank god i didnt because the front sit above the tyre and the rear guard sits over the tyre:d the other way around

If the front tyre was in the guard, how the hell are you gonna go when you need to turn? Annoys me when people know nothing about their own occupation... And I aim this comment at people in mobile phone stores!
haha, i lowered my car for $110.all up. 4 x lowered (fe2 equivlent) springs, kmac mounts & monroe GT gas shocks. All in good (not great) condition. I think most of the money goes into the labour if you get it done new. screw dat!

i saw mortons car today, it looks lower than mine did, lows should sit nicely, or be the same height because his springs have sagged:P
i wish theyd invent super ultra lows, then i could have my rim in the guard without using the grinder.. dw ill shuttup haha just stiring u "anti-cutting" blokes
Don't blame me, It's that damn percadan..
If you ask me, that stuff rots your brain...
And now a word from our new sponsor.. Percadan? oh crap!
lol, I'd hate to see how my car was riding when it was driven out of the dealership back in '91
But really, as long as my car sits an inch lower, and the springs feel a little stiffer (now how hard could that be), I'll be delighted
(and Calais3800, I'm paying $200 for labour. I'd rather just give someone else the cash, go home, and sleep all day; than slog my arse off for eight hours on the driveway going "what?! ... WHAT?! ... now remove the sway bar link pin from the strut and turn the what?... WHAT?!! STOP THAT!!!)

know how u feel. i cbf doing the fronts my self, paid someone to fit my panhard rod because i didnt have a rattle gun or the nerver to get under my car while it was jacked up, and turn a very large bolt hoping to god it dosnt fall on me!!!
:P If you had real springs you don't need to jack the car up to undo the panhard rod, you just slide right on under there man![]()

maybe if you have a uni joint on your arm to get to the chassis-mounted side of the rod !!
Last time I took off my panhard rod, I drove it up to the local exhaust place and got them to rattle-gun it back on for five bucks
Car goes out to get lowered in five minutes, and I get it back at 5pm tonight. Let's hope it's worth the money! *crosses fingers, touches wood*
Time to go out and take a "before" shot ^^

speaking of panhard rod, why do u need one again? mines like sitting on bumpstops and the position of the wheels never change .. and paradox haha i had my car fall on me, i was just getting out from under the car and the jack gave way, i had my arm in the wheel arch trying to make sure my spring and shocky where in strait to let it down and bang! had to have the fire brigade lift the car off my arm, i only had a fracture but just think, if i was still under the car with an inch between my exhast and the ground i woulda had 1800 kilos crush my head.. DONT EVER USE A STOCK CAR JACK im scared of going under my car at all, even on stands and i need to swap my cat over![]()

I use sliced tree stumps and tyres on rims wedged under the car to make sure it can't fall down much no matter what happens when it's on jacks. You definitely don't need to jack the car up at all to change the cat, I did that a couple of weeks ago while it was parked on the grass just reaching my arm under the car (with FE2) Or maybe I just have a uni joint arm like Luke said. Anyway it only takes a few minutes if you get lucky and the bolts aren't siezed.
Morton how are those springs?
