yep, they can be hooked upto central locking just fine, and autobarn do sell em, usually keep some commodore ones in stock.

they stop people shoving keys in your keybarrels, but if someone wants in, they wont stop em.

having said that though, i had a cousins fiance come into work oneday(i work at autobarn), his vl got broken into twice in one week, first, they stole the battery, second the stereo. he bought a set of solex locks, has been fine since.

you can get 'TYPE R' brand one also (cheaper) & even another brand (cant remember the name) But good as a deterant as said above, they dont offer much more than that really, cus if someone wants something not alot you can do if they determind enuf

Ive had them on both my VL's & my VK.

The best door lock is only as good as the weak-arse window above it. Still...I've never heard anyone complain about the Solex locks.

wouldnt u be doubling up on keys thought? say if your central went out of order ud have to use the solex keys to gain entry then the original holden igniton key to start her.

Does anyone do a complete ignition, boot and 2 doors pakage? My mate had solex all round on his old XE ghia an there unreal! only way to beat solex is to go throught the back quater window. so make sure ur alarm has a sonic shock sensor and ur car will be very diffcult to steal. Also a "stand alone" immobilzer will make it ever hard still.........

    MY 2 cents......

Do you think Locksmith can modify the locks if I give him to match the key?

nah would cost a fortune i think. just grab a whole solex pakege .........doors,boot and igntion. or just get a s/hand igniton and original key from wrekers...

It is quite easy to recode standard locks to suit a given key. You can DIY. The tumblers have numbers stamped into them - just match the numbers. New locks come uncoded with a set of tumblers sufficient to do any code. Depending on what is worn, mix and match from used locks (from wreckers) can be done. If the numbers aren't clear, trial and error until the tumblers sit flush with the barrel with the key in it (lock disassembled) also works.
