    Default What Mods?

If you could do any mod to a V6 VN to increase power and efficiency for 300 or less what would it be?

    Series 1 or 2...

you can do coils and inductions.... err possibly upgrade the injectors... fuel pump, nos or save it and do some big stuff later save about 800 and you'll be right and have a nice engine

For $300 you could do heaps to speed her up:

    Take out the bellmouth: $0
    Grind back the throttle-stopper: $0
Cut off the side of the standard airbox trunk, and open the mouth: $0
Grind off the rear muffler: $0
Take out the spare tyre, jack, back seats and door trim: $0
Cut down your springs to make the car more aerodynamic: $0
Steal a good performance memcal from a wreckers yard: $0
Get yourself a stage-2 B&M Shift-Kit, install yourself (if you have auto): $70
Get a good set of second-hand extractors: $230

    and away you go

OI i have cut springs but i didnt cut them. came like it

Exhaust system, intake system with a ss inductions kit, Take the bellmouth out from the intake manifold, Grind back the throttle-stopper on the throttle body, and take out as much weight as you can to make the car lighter.

like i said moth balls, they have the same effect as nos. These cost less than 300 bucks, then again you might damage the motor

$300 . . . just go with your intake side of things.
VS supercharged cold air intake - $60 or so from Holden
K&N panel filter - $120 from Autobarn etc

Can of throttle body cleaner - about $12 from Supercheap etc. Take off the throttle body and unplug the electrics before cleaning it. Use a toothbrush, or just use so much cleaner it washes all the carbon out :P
Depending on how dirty it is, you can save yourself trouble later on with this job.

Change spark plugs and ignition leads. This can make a surprising difference.

The more work that you do yourself, the more money you save in the long run. I'm only 18 and have already saved quite literally thousands of dollars of labour costs, just from playing with the car myself . . .

    Hope that helps
    Sam

    Same effect as NOS?

It raises your octane rating... Its the same effect as 91 octane to BP Ultimate

    Wink

for $300 u can do a fair bit if your good wiff cars and r prepared to ring around wreckers to see wat dey gots. I would do the following.

    1) 100% throttle open mod (cleaning it while your there will restore sum powa 2!)

    2) Secondhand sports X-zorst (cat back), i got mine for $150 but i had 2 pull i out myself.

    3) Vt fuel pressure regulator $25 , make sure its in good condition. ( i rang up a guy wrecking his vt in da trading post, i dont think he even knew wat it waz.....worked well for me and my wallet )

    4) spend the rest on a second hand cold air intake setup wiff performance filter (new).

p.s if there anything left ova buy sum beer....i know i did. Use the force young jedi and all will fall into place..........

    my 2 cents

go the VS V6 s/c intake from holden, K&N panel filter from your local autostore and do a full service including the fuel filter, tranny, diff oil etc, new plugs, leads etc, clean TB and IAC valve. make sure TB opens fuly as mentioned above(for more info on this search for a thread by greenfoam), run some injector cleaner through it. future mods to do when money allows iclude, full cat back 2.5" zorst + headers, larger TB (65mm V8 standard or 70mm YT)

edit: heres and pic of something you can do if you intend to maybe do a pod instead of the standard K&N panel and Holden CAI

New spark plugs, Leads, Oil Change, CAI.
If you have stock exhaust get the rear resonator chopped off & straight pipe, gives more low end torque, Do throttle 100% tutorial by greenfoam. Get some 2nd hand VT 22lb Injectors.

    Cheers
