    Default VN aircon

    heyt all
with summer fast approaching and temps above 30 degres C in melb, i've considered using my air con again

bought it without aircon - the tank was empty or something and never worked

what am i looking at to get it working?

i called up one place and they gave me the run around saying

"you need to convert the AC unit coz it's old blah blah"

    is this true?
or is it just a straight regas?

p.s VN calais 91 model, with stock aircon AFAIK

If any of you guys are chasing an aircon compressor for ya cars let me know.
Have 1 that i removed from a vn wagon that i had pulled the engine out of.
The unit was working fine and it has been sealed since removal.

yea u shouldnt have to change ur systems, they just use different gas that dont hurt the ozone, few little things they need to change, valves and stuff. i got mine regassed about 6 months ago, but its not even cold, i rekon old gas was colder but u cant get it anymore.

hey im a quilified a/c specialist and with your a/c you will have to get a retrofit as it is known in the industry. which consist of new valves,o-rings, a filter, oil and it will need new gas. if the a/c isnt working you will have to get it checked out because it is illegal to regas a leaking a/c system. if it doesnt work as well as it youse too there is a problem it is normal to lose 2 or 3 degrees at the vent but you shouldn't notice the difference. if there is something leaking it could cost you big $1500+ or it could cost $150. hope i helped if anyone has any questions swing them my way i'd be more than happy to help.
