    Default calais dash and interior?

i am just wondering if it would be easier to put the complete loom from a calais into my executive or modify the executive loom to suit the calais dash? and is it pretty easy to fit the central locking and electric windows from a calais into an executive?

The actual hardware is easy to put in, but the wiring is a bitch. Wiring it to the switches and the modules etc... its alot of work.

It'd be easier to just buy a Calais or Berlina like mine with all the electrics... There really is not much difference in price between the models now days

I was lookin at this also ... I just recently purchased the whole calais interior with dash, and was looking at getting the loom so I could just wire up the level 3 cluster (I already have electric windows).

The wrecker was all ready to sell it, but advised me about the trouble to wire it all up, and said that it prolly was not worth it...

I'm about to swap the VN exec loom for a VN calais one in about two weeks. I'm not looking forward to it. It can be done, but pretty much everything has to come out. That means: Entire dashboard, centre console, kickpanels, rear seat, parcel shelf, door trims and engine loom.

Its a big job. I've been putting it off for a week now.

what series vn calais loom are u putting in? the old series one calais loom wouldnt work in my series one executive . ive put in the vn calais loom (didnt work cos of the very old style security module ) vp calais loom went in, didnt work properly cos of the switches being vn, put in a damaged vq loom (didnt come with a bcm so alot more wiring) and just finished putting in the vq series 2 loom with bcm, alot less of a head ache.

I'm putting in a Series 1 Calais loom, as i can't be stuffed changing the heaterbox. I've got everything, but the alarm module. I'm hoping to get one on monday. Even if i have to go to every wreaker in Melbourne. Or unless someones knows how to completely take it out as i will be using an aftermarket alarm.

I'm doing the same thing, but also fitting the climate control....I'm just waiting for a week of good weather so I can take me time.....In me other VN I'll be installing the complete loom from a VQ S2 with the climate control.

Picked up an alarm module today... But the connector going into it is different!!! The loom I have there is two connectors, a white one and a green one. This module just has a long black connector.... I'm very confused.
Both the loom and the module are from a 89 calais. Just different ones.

As VN2NV said, just buy a berlina or calais. Unless your emotionally attached to the car now.

I had a VP Berlina wagon, which only had cruise and front p/windows. With the intention of putting in full electrics, full p/windows, cruise, climate etc.
In the end i sopped a Berlina LX wagon that had everything i wanted and more (being a manual V8, other one was an Auto 6) So i snapped it up, and flogged the V6 off to a mate.

Thats a very good idea. Thanks mate. If the VP unit doesn't match, loom is then going to be chopped up and frankenstianed to my original.

Ok, VP units have the same plugs, but not enough wires. Checked 2 VP's yesturday. They seem to have about half the amount of wires needed.
So as soon as I get my Power windows and mirrors working, I have alot of Calais stuff i'll check up for sale.
