Hi...
Big problem... My bro's car is drinking an enormous amount of fuel....
lets just say 15 litres of fuel is gettin him about 40km's.. and thats with very light throttle.
no theres no obvious fuel leaks on the tank or on the lines and the exhaust is not smoking as to say its running rich....
i doubt the O2 would would have to do anyhting with it.... or the fuel filter...
but where else should i be lookin for a obvious leak?? i doubt the engine could be sucking that much fuel... its gotta be a leak but from where???
oh yeah is there a AFM on VN's?? where is the fruk is it??
my car was using 100L/100km once, check your rockers, (remove rocker covers) one of my rockers was bascially unbolted and i was running on 5 pretty much wasnt opening a valve... maybe also a leak in your inlet manifold, can u smell any fuel??? check that your injectors are sitting in properly because that is serious fuel wastage, its like 35L/100km???
cheers for your reply.. ill pull of the covers later... ive checked injectors and intake rail seems fine no leaks or fuel smell...
aight smell the exhust, does it smell and also check to see if it feels normal ie not missing a cyclidner when it fires... but yeah cant hurt to replace the fuel filter,... actually yes it can u get petrol in your eyes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but its worth it
Check what pressure your fuel regulator is at, or just renew it
Check you air filter, sparkplugs are gapped correctly, vacuum leaks, faulty coolant sensor, faulty thermostat and lastly the MAT and MAP sensors.

i had a similar prob, injectors needed replacing and ecu needed rewiring
follow the fuel lines from the pump right up to the engine you might have a pin hole in the fuel pipes.
Stato on the inside, berlina on the out side,5ltr under the bonnet, stockies all round...........that thing has to be a sleeper

im gonna have a look over the lines tommorow.
btw its a BT1 if that makes a difference....
if its using 15L per 40km or 37.5/100km then i would be looking for leaks and faults, because if that much fuel was going into the cylinders then the car would run like absolute shit, if at all.
well thats the thing .. car runs fine.. no probs.. all power is there....
Maybe someone is helping themselves to your "go juice" after hours.

That much juice.
Do you ever get a petrol smell?
Check everything.
Look at your tank, especially around the seals, pump, joins, bottom of tank for any wet spots or rust.
Follow your fuel lines all the way to the engine bay, look for leaks, preferably with the car running.
Once at the engine bay, check the filter, and all the hoses and connections, then look at things like the pressure regulator, the rail and the injectors for leaks. smell everything...
Something is leaking, you just need to find what.
Just went undet the car again and checked the fuel lines, tank, pump, fuel rails, regulator, injectors, all pipes not a single leak not smell of petrol... and then i had a good whiff of the exhaust and it was smelling pretty rich... but no black smoke at all...
havent been able to do a pressure test on the regulator yet.. but what if the reg is stuck open wouldnt the ecu control the amount of fuel being chewed up???
Did you check under the car with the fuel pump primed (key on only)?
The ECU doesnt have direct control over the FPR, the ECU only has a table for lookup values for the injectors and AF ratios at certain settings/levels. The FPR will run whatever pressure its supposed to, unless its cactus and running high.

nup only checked while it was running?? differerence?
hmm better get the reg. checked.. i hope its something as simple as that..
anyone got the specs on what the pressure after the reg should be?? i ony got em for the vs....
found a small leak in the return fuel line just as it comes of the rail... just cut back the hose a bit and shes sweet... but she wasent leaking that much that it would cause a massive amount of fuel loss...![]()
More spannering less questionsit's either something in the fuel system and that doesn't leave many options or a massive problem with one of the sensors (coolant or air temp) but I doubt they would cause it to use anything like that much fuel
maybe the car is thirsty............im sorry i couldt help myself......(bad matty...bad)
YOU KNOW WHAT THEY SAY.......WAIT......NO I DONT
