As some of you know my pride and joy VN has got stolenand now i need a new car.
I have found a stock 5sp VP commie for sale for $2500. Still way above my budget but i guess i can take out another personal loan. I was going to get a small shitbox till i save some money but i have decided its just not me so i want another commie. its a 1993 model and only has 180 000km on it. Its got keyless entry and imoboliser.
Do you think this is a good price. Its a manual so they are pretty rear too. Do VPs go as good or any better then VNs? What are the main differences apart from looks. cheers

VP's are basically VN's with better build quality. VP's came with a factory immobiliser, and the option of IRS and in S2, ABS. I'd actually reccomend the shitheap, at least until you get your current loan cleared, but it's your choice, and if the VP looks like it's in good nick then might be an ok deal. If you're dead set on it, offer 1900 and see where it goes from there. Just remember, bargaining is a process of: You insult me, I insult you and then we find a middle ground acceptable to both of us.
Beau Duke: Man, I'm never gonna get outta this car again. I'm gonna live in it, I'm gonna eat in it and I'm gonna make sweet love to it!
Luke Duke: You mean you're gonna make sweet love IN it.
Beau Duke: Oh no, I'm gonna have sex with it.

hey mate, id wait a few more weeks, your car could turn up half way to queensland untouched
Not much difference between the 2 cars, VP has a better steering wheel, the 1993 VP will have the good brakes (VN V8/FE2 style) and um well they look a little more sexy from behind
apart from a few things and being built better it's the same car. One more special trick VP's have, is that the interior light stays on for a few seconds after you close it up

If its in good condition, $2500 for a VP manual is a great deal. I paid $3000 for my VN manual, and am yet to see a much better deal out there. I've seen cheaper VN/VP manuals, but not in good condition.
If it has under say 220.000km, decent engine, decent clutch (make sure of that one) and the gearbox is good, then $2,500 is a pretty great price.
But still get some more off![]()
Alright well im going to go see the car in a couple hours. If i like it i will have to get some money. i will try talk him down to $2000. Ill give him a sob story bout my stolen car. Only has 180000ks on it so i thought that was pretty good. I got my ol VN 5sp for $3000. Its soooo hard to find a good 5sp unless you pay the money.

sounds like a s2 berlina ;-) same as mine, would check the car out though for rust, etc, busted steering and whatnot.
2k is a steal mate (sorry about the pun :P)|
yeah may aswell, if u get ur vn back then sell it![]()
2-2.5k .. I would take it ... I paid 2.3k for my 89VN, and it came with a fair bit of rust for free around the front & rear windows, and a little bit in the boot. Not to mention things like that a/c not working, the passenger right rear electronic window broken (but I have a replacement), bubble in the dash, and some pretty average interior tid bits, and a sometimes working central locking system.
But the rest of the engine just recently had a lot of things replaced.. Like starter, harmonic balancer, a/c gas conversion and a few other things... Only down side is it is auto, but hey, a welcomed change from my other manual car ...
Well i just had a look. In the ad he said it only have 180000ks on it. Well i had a look and it had almost 300000ks. It also looked like it has been stolen at some stage. Lock looks stuffed and few wires coming from ignition barral exposed and yeah. With that many Ks i was not interested, and if he lied about how many Ks are on the clock then what else hasnt he said. From the outside its realy straight any everything, and interior is neat and tidy. But i will keep looking. Or PRAY that my VN comes back

Yep, a good thing to do is not to rush into the first car you see .. If it is not exactly what you are after, or if you think the guy is a little dodgy then walk away ...
I think mine had been stolen also .. Or broken into ... Cause the drivers door was bent a little around the handle, and the steering column is not 100% straight, so someone has jimmied it, and knocked it off a little bit ... But, for a car that old, and being a commodore, I think you kind of expect that it has been broken into before ...
Sorry to annoy you guys again. Just want some good advice. I have just found a 1991 Nissan Pulsar Q N13. Anyone no if they are any good and reliable? Just need a car to get from A to B till i pay off my loan. Pulsar selling for $1200. cheers

Was a great little car tho ... Good fuel economy, good little engine ... Not too much power but enough ... Just don't get it in an auto or it will have no balls...
