Default got a new problem with automatic

    I cannot reverse!!

That only occurs when the engine/trans is hot after driving for a while, if its cooled down/or local driving its fine.

D, 2 and 1 (all forward gears) are fine but when you select reverse, there is nothing like being in netural! What could be going on?

Have you checked your tranny fluid? If the fluid is full take it to a transmission specialist to determine the problem.

sounds like it's a little more serious then a fluid problem but a trans cooler never hurts

Definately add the cooler. It will increase the life of the transmission.

unless you drive like a granny(and i bet there aren't a lot of grannies on this forum), fit the cooler. something i noticed in another thread about ADLD cables and data logs is that almost everybody trying this is getting an auto over temp flag comming up. i'd suggest that the standard trans cooler in radiator setup is a poor design. fitting an extra cooler certainly won't hurt the tranny, might hurt the wallet a little but it's and extra insurance policy for your box

hmmm... I gotta go to auto specialist... That is why I dont like automatics!!

Anyway, Just went out after driving over 240kms today (from here to Ballarat drop some stuff then back here in Melb) when arrived Ballarat & Melbourne reverse didn't work due engine is hot, i didn't really drive hard.

Its been half hour since I arrived home I checked out, I can reverse and it doesn't take ages to "click" in reverse just goes in reverse like 3 secs from park. Tomorrow will change the filter and add new oil in and see how I go on Sunday when I drive to Geelong, if it still not right then I'll take it to transmission specialist, mightbe the gearbox is on its way out.

    Ok, So far so good...
Changed the filter $16 (kit with filter and gasket) and fluid $24 from Bursons. Also added Transmission cooler.

Drove to Ballan (after Bucchus Marsh) and back - reversing is working while hot!
Today drove to Geelong then back - Reversing again working well.
Fingers crossed that it'll be okay?!??

Fluid was dirty when drained it (not bright red - brownish redish colour - may have explained why it wasnt working well!?.)

    Thanks for your imput guys.
    Cheers
