The KA bottom left - is that the dash code? - fits the MK2 VN cluster option part number.

Never mind that above post - V8 had KB cluster code. KA was the V6 version I think

I just looked at the KA its boot filter assy. The cluster is the sv type with the lion emblem and its only done 115000ks

Found mine under the back passenger carpet, a few things I wanna know what is a Pack 114 and a CHK 1.
and XX8 which is VN mark 2. what is a mark 2

It think mark 2 is series 2 and 114 is executive or sedan.

that's weird cause my mechanic thinks its a series 1 because mine is date May 90 and my coilpack is well was 1 instead of 3 individuals which it is now

Ahh Haa! This is where the confusion starts

Mar 1990 introduced Mark 2 upgrade, ei: hubcaps, headunit, etc. But still used the Series 1 engine.
Nov 1990 Onwards Holden starting using the Series 2 engine. V7X Will also appear on sheets as well.

i cant find mine in the vn but i shoukld look in rear foot wells and drivers side cause steats been replaced aswell

I have only found them in the passangers side front foot well in the vn's and vp's. Vr and vs drivers side front. Vx under back seat or rear foor well's. And vt front near heater box.

I ripped the carpet up in the front and nothing and then I took my rear seat off to clean and lifted the carpet at the back and there it was folded in half, really good condition only a little stain on the right hand side of the paper. Ok so If mine is a mark 2 upgrade there are only a few changes, cause my radiator hose is at the bottom and I had a full coilpack. can't remember if the hubcaps are different cause when I bought it I got wheels of a VY berlina 225/50 16R.

The code A8Z is a mystery, it has seen it on several sheets from VP to VS.

After some thread mining, I finally found out what A8Z means... "Series one upgrade pack". A coincidence as the code appears several months before a Series II update on VP, VR and VS sheets.

The million dollar question is.... what changes took place?

Just checked 3 build sheets I have handy and all three have option A8Z, the earliest a VS V6 Executive dated 14/06/1995, latest is a acclaim 08/03/1996...


I think the Series 2 VS started around mid 96?? so would not have done any sort of Series 2 updates to a Series 1 model mid 95...

I have also seen A8Z mentioned as SALES PACKAGE EQUIPMENT LOW COST.... There would seem to be nothing special about any of the 3 that would be a low cost sales package except the acclaim (abs / twin airbags)....

I'd pay to see sheets from the Export models, especially unusual ones such as 4 cylinder VNs, VN/P GTS, Opel engine VPs, etc
