Default Tranny on the way out?

Well.. I suspect that the transmission is whats making the noise in my car, possible the torque converter.
    Anyway.
Lately (especially since the rims have been added) when youre cruising in overdrive, if you accellerate lightly the revs increase, it then it drops the car up a gear and the revs drop, then if you keep accelleration then it drops down a gear and you take off.
It seems very strange and not very efficient.
Im not sure if the extra weight of the rims on the drivetrain is having this effect, or if the tranny is just on its way out.
How much is a rebuild of a transmission, or just a straight out replacement usually?

Yeah... this is my first car thats an auto, so where do i find this kickdown cable and what am i looking for in it?

Maybe i should invest in a gregorys for this car, i get the feeling i may need it.

Seems to me could be something computer related, solonoids, ECU, etc. Reckon get the car checked up before you assume the trans is gone.

    Yeah. well...
    It runs ok.
Makes a rattle noise when driving above 2000rpm.. not timing chain.
Apart from that the only noise is the injectors clicking which isnt necessarily a bad thing.
I think the ECU may have problems, because if you give the car a bit of a thrash (couple of burnouts or drifts) then when you stop, it idles up and down by about 500rpm until you drive it normally for about 10 or 15 minutes, then it evens out.

For a complete rebuild you could be looking in excess of $1000, and perhaps around $500 for a replacement if you hunt around.

Just out of interest, how does your car shift up a gear if it's in overdrive?

Before you know your transmission is completed stuffed, you could find a good decent ones at the wreckers like what happened to me, I found a near rebuilt on and fitted it in an Commodore before I sold it, it was in a good nick costed me $125 from Jolly Rogers Wreckers in Dandenong South, just the matter of time and knowledge of what you're doing.

The kickdown cable is the cable attached to the throttle body, its the thinner cable and the throttle cable is the thick one. To adjust it you push the metal tab in thats shaped like a D and pull the sheath all the way to the drivers side, let the tab go, now press the throttle all the way to the floor and the cable will adjust itself.
Im not a complete idiot, some parts are still on backorder!
