with doing cams you can throw any stage in no problems, but you have other things to consider, things like:
chip
stall (stage 3 requires stall)
diff ratio has to be changed
intake exaust
ect
Stato on the inside, berlina on the out side,5ltr under the bonnet, stockies all round...........that thing has to be a sleeper

gonna cost ne where between 800-1400.. depenin on wat need 2 b done.. well ur gonna need head work.. valve spring. retainers collets, mayb heavy duty timing chain, some require good extractor + exhaust.. i could go on look here http://www.crowcams.com.au/templates...HoldenV6.shtml
just to clear a few things up...
cams dont "put out" any power at all. they let the air/fuel intake mixture in and exhaust out, via the valves.
and there's no real consistent "stages" with cams. as there is with anything automotive. all the camshaft manufacturers havent held a meeting to discuss how lumpy all stage 2 cams will be compared to stage 1s. for example, AVOs stage 3 cam is quite close to Nismos stage 1 for the RB30. Or, if "workshop A" had a "stage 1 horsepower rebuild engine," and "workshop B" had a "stage 1 horsepower rebuild engine," what's to say they'll be of the same spec?
stages are relative. I'M up stage 2 of the build in MY car.
get it?
sorry bout that, i just don't understand why people always refer to stages all the time when they dont mean shit.
but, in reference to your cam thing, the lumpier the cam, the longer the valves will stay open, which obviously can result in more power, but pretty bad idle and fuel comsumption and driveablilty sometimes too. talk to a good workshop or manufacturer and discuss what you need
some cams require u to change alot of things dependin on how big ya go.. so as daily_wagolis said go speak 2 some1 about it..
