OK. There have been 2 things that my VN does that is really starting to bug me and would like to know how to fix them!
1. Ever since I bought the car there has been a clicking coming through the stereo only when the radio is on and car is running. My friend thinks it might be something to do with the alternator but I want a second opinion. The alternator has been rebuilt so maybe it could be.
2. I replaced the overflow lines on the petrol tank because petrol would spill out every time I fill the tank just a bit too much. Ever since I did this it takes longer to start, over a second on the starter. Before this it would always start within a second of turning the key. Would there be something that has upset it due to taking out the tank and putting it back in? I have put all new clamps on the lines around the tank as well
The car is a 1990 series 1 wagon
Any advice will be appreciated

1/ usually alternator interference is more of a whining sound that gets higher and lower with the revs, clicking is more likely spark or maybe even injectors causing interference. You need to just go to jaycar or dick smith and get a noise suppressor. With it really being more of a 'suck it and see' than a definite reason, I suggest using a suppressor that connects directly to the stereo pwr. and earth.
2/ did you check the fuel pump fuse, if thats not working car wont start till oil pressure is up...... i.e. a second or two more than usual.
