Default need to drain petty tank

hey all i want to drain my petty tank on my VP into a peterol tin and was wondering how i go about it? i thought of taking off a fuel line and turning onto reds to keep the fuel pump going but will this burn out the pump if left on too long or only if its left on after all petty is gone?...

I would just use a clear hose and do it the ol fasion way. siphon it out. Or buy one of those pump things from auto shops.

Use a siphon hose or take out the bottom bolt on your fuel pump holder. A bit messy though.

I wouldn't use the fuel pump as you have fuel in the open and I'd like to keep the power off in the car, plus unless you short out the oil pressure switch or fuel pump relay it will only run for 10 seconds anyway.
