with the exception of you i dont know anyone whose managed to break one of these motors or gearboxes, i know due to the low compression theyre good for boost however getting massive power NA out of these engines isnt easy youd be luck to spend $5000 working it and get 150rwkw??, s1 had a lumpier cam, but the only change to the bottom end i think was the rear main seal design, cranks a little diffrent (s2 can be convertered to manual) and just minor things, its not like were comparing a ecotec vs buick

I found shitload of cases in the US where people have thrown conrods out the side of the block... SNAP THEM AN BANG! BIG WHOLE/SIEZED MOTOR.

If you are going to run a strong NA motor with a cam, start with VR heads on either block.
If you are going to run a strong boosted motor use EV6 (VP) block and heads

Yep the series 2 VN is the start of the EV6 block and the VR heads had alot more compression (enough to run a decent cam)

well to put my question into concept, i was told basically because i have a series 1, that with certain few mods, that i could have a vn easy running safely at 7800rpm max, instead of 5500 (area)

Do mean as compared to the series 2 motor? Or compared to other commodore motors in general?

7800 rpm!:P that's alot of revs for a wobbly unbalanced V6 but anythings worth a try, just make sure you wear armour around your feet first

You'll need change the rev limiter aswell, I'm not sure about how to do that? but most VN's would self destruct at anything over 7000 without heavy modification

rev limiter is easy, but its the work envolved in doing it to get thatmuch lol, and compared to series 2, cause like i said this bloke has a vn s1 s and he said he put the s1 in cause an s2 doing that will just blow up lol

OUCH! 7800rpm? i aint no mechanic but i agree with greenfoam, in an inline i could see it happening, but in an unrefined, rattly buick v6? sorri m8 i aint calling you a lier, but it seems so hard to believe with something with a redline of 5500rpm, just one of them things id have to see to believe if someone done it haha ..... MAN! get a rotory if u luv revs hahaha btw good luck with that i want to see it when you do it lolz
