Default s1 and s2 exhast manifold

hey guys just a quick question, is the tubular exhast manifold on the s1 v6 better than the series 2 manifolds? my m8's dad rekons that the series 1 manifolds r a cheep type of extractor n sais they do the same job as the series 2 cast 1's, just out of curiosity. any comments would be much appreciated

    thanks guys
    cheers chris

lots of people have differing opinions on this, this is my finding:

dads s2 manifold cracked, as most do, so he got my spare s1 manifolds, got an oxy sensor thread welded on the y pipe because the vr has it in the y pipe i think, blocked up the old sensor thread with a bung. it seems to go a bit better, but doesnt go worse.

but looking at the design, the s1 manifold have a center collector, which is supposed to be better than a log style. the primary pipes are closer to a common length, which helps.

Clearly the cast manifold has a better flowing design but the VN tubes have better length. Still since they are both too short to be of any use power wise I'd go for the cast headers and hit them with a die grinder so they are matched with the exhaust ports. The best thing would be to move that end runner that faces the wrong way on the tubes though

the s1s are better because they have a collector unlike the s2 which helps scavandge exhuast kinda like extractors but shit lol

Prove its better , The VP has more top end than the VN and a heaps more mild tune, this power has to come from somewhere

like greenfoam said the end runner is on the wrong way, its restricting flow and causing excess back pressure
Stato on the inside, berlina on the out side,5ltr under the bonnet, stockies all round...........that thing has to be a sleeper
