Yo.
$3500 in repairs and still going...........Had the car 2 weeks....But I love it...
Next problem, My remote control does not work I changed the battery still nothing, were do I get a new one? Do I have to remove the chip from the old one for it to work? Or is there some trick I can do with a learning remote? I know with FORDS (sorry for swearing) that you can reset the remote with a combination of turning the ignition on and off.
Thanks guys.
PS HOLDEN RULZ
i THINK u can get replacements from holden still.
We got rep back, yaaay!
Got one for my 91 VQ last week for $115 fully coded.you need to give them your code from inside your remote first.Just make sure that is the problem.
mr minute sell a key/remote in one thingy for about 90 bucks i think.
my remote was ghetto when i first got my ride, crappy range etc. i just got a learning remote from dick smith, but it requires a working remote to learn from
Just Central locking question of my own.
My mates VP Wagon has keyless entry...but the thing is the boot doesnt lock..has to be key locked..
What could the problem be
a cheaper way to fix the central locking is to buy an aftermarket immobilizer with a remote for central locking. that way you'll have a new remote which will do exactly the same as the holden one, but you wont need to worry about getting it coded and crap. plus you'll also have an immobilizer, a must in any commodore.
i just installed a vr bcm so i got central locking, immoboliser, power windows when i get regulators, power mirrors and a few other things.
yeah but i've got alota free time atm an it filled in time. also i like the fact the i don't have an extra thing on the keyring as im just using a vr key.
My central locking is the one last problem that really s**ts me to tears. All the stuff is there. All the motors work when bridged to 12v, module works, no frigging voltage from the fuse box.
Should I just run a new 12v into that fuse block from someplace else?

Ive fixed mine, I took the black button remote thing apart, I had two solder joints that had come loose, so i dabbed a bit of solder on each and now she works a treat ! In the photo you should be able to make out were I have put new solder on.

The remotes are a bit finicky...dont know if holden still sell them but mongoose are the supplier.
I got the same style remote out of a vp from the wreckers and had mongoose code it .They can probabably fix you old one anyway.
What I have done before with results is sprayed a small amount inox on the blue variable capacitor in the remote and turned the adjusting screw in and out to the exact same position and it worked ok afterwards...but make sure you have a good contact on the battery first and of course have it in the right way.
In a vp a wagon does have a lock solenoid in the rear door that is activated by the remote.
Problem could be broken wire where it bends between the door and the body through the rubber grommet/cover.
Well done budwizer!
Who cares how hard or feasible it was to put a bcm into a earlier model especially after you've done it ...you learn something and it costs you next to nothing and you did it yourself ...hate those pricks who use the comment" you must have a lot of time on your hands"....its because they probably know bloody nothin and are jealous of people who do and thats their big comeback.
