    Default Smoothing boot garnish

What do people think to the idea of smoothing out the lines that run over the boot garnish on a VN then colour coding the garnish? And has any Lexcen or VN got a smooth boot garnish as standard?

Has anyone done this to their VN or seen one with it done? Pics would be appreciated if anyone has some!

Yeah, they do look good. I won't have the original lights on after monday though. I got some with clear indicators off eBay.

Plus nowhere to put the number plate with the VQ rear garnish, unless you fabricate the VQ number plate holder into your bumper or something.

Heres the pictures from the thread that defa mentions.

I thought I had bookmarked the thread where these pictures come from, but buggered if I can find it now. I'll have to wait till the owner updates it now as I can't find it.

That looks good. I think i'm going to go to the wreckers on monday and get another garnish, then i'll just smooth and colour code that one so I can always put the old one back on if I don't like it.

Nah cause the shape of the VP garnish is different.. Like it bulges out a bit more, especially at the top because it has the 2 lights in it. I would just do it with a VN one but I need those number plate lights

It would be a bit more work with a VP garnish since you'd probably end up having to sand off the ridges before painting rather than just filling a smallish area if you wanted it smooth.

Picked up my new tail lights today, but unfortunately when I got home I unpacked them to find two R/H ones. Called the parts place who said they have 3 more sets in stock but they are all R/H ones packaged wrong!!

Definately! They said they should have another delivery in tomorrow lunchtime. Going to call me when they've made sure there are some L/H ones there

I fitted the R/H one to see what it looks like and it makes the rear end look a lot tidier IMO. They are a bit darker than the stock Berlina ones and should look awesome when the garnish is done.

Has anyone got any recommendations on what sort of filler to use for smoothing the garnish? I was going to just get some standard bog but then wondered about using it on plastic.

Here's a pic to show the differences between the old and new lights.

The ones from the Lexcen are a bit different. These are a slightly darker tint and have the lines across the centre bit like the originals do. I tried for ages to get a good set of Lexcen lights but had no luck as all the reverse lights seem to go yellow!

I paid $95 for these off eBay and they come from Grant Walker in Bayswater (Melbourne).

    now i want those lights

might be able to get them through insurance though
(got rear ended... other parties insurance paying... would be cheaper if i got the above-mentioned one's as opposed to $125 each for stock holden items!)
