I spoke too a Auto elec about the Calais dash in my VP. It's amazing that people on ebay sell them and claim they are the same VN-VP When there far from the 100% same, Same with switches.
Anyway this guy had never done one before but said get all i need cluster left right switches and one thing i forgot something about a oil sender of sensor, Anyway using the current wires wire it all up for $130. The prices shocked me thinking Auto Elecs are not normally too cheap best of times.
And on the Ecotec engine i ask him about fitting one, You need all the gear too make life easy. Anything that's on the engine bring it, But bring the ECU and engine looms and he said no cutting wires etc wire it up 100% like it was made for it. So if every there was a engine fault pull it and swap it.
Price he wasn't sure on couldn't give me a quote on the spot but if i pressure him with a list he will.
I thought i'd post this for those that are like me, We knw our stuff but getting hands on isnt too easy too us, We give it a go but would rather someone do the work right so we don't fluff it up.
Forgot too ask about power windows and climate.
Ive spent about 12 months talking too people on these things, Mechanics friends from wreckers etc, Couldn't get straight answers on anything, Mechanics wont touch a L67 in older cars. Get someone too fit the engine and the auto elecs do the rest.

They fixed it... but it cost me a fortune...
Lol fit the ecotec yourself, once you got all parts, took me 3 days to do it.
Use the vp wiring...

I'm good with models and knowing what they have but when it comes too getting my hands real dirty i'm hopeless.
Actually i'm having some trouble getting my hands near a engine, Mums best friends son works in a wreckers he can at least get all i need maybe at a good price, But so far all he has said is not cheap dream list.. People don't respect dreams
Didn't the VN auto work with the ecotec?

I'd suggest using ur wiring loom... Just patch whats necasary. An get it re-tuned. You can use the l36(ecotec) wiring & computer if u Get the manual wiring loom & manual computer i think... Too much messing around though.

I wouldn't mind a 5 speed but that's extra money i could spend on the L67. But i'll be happy with the L36 if it happensMight need too wait 8 months bugger!
