Default mates car hit gutter damage assesment please with pictures

my mate owns a vp v6 live axel anyway to he got a bit unstuck and hit the gutter pushing the diff towards the drivers side about 3-4 inches.
the pan rod mount on the body is pretty busted up, both wheels a screwed and one tyre is pretty cut up, what else is likley to have broke he hit it at about 30-40km. the body is fine no pannel damage.
can see the areas i have cicled are kinda buckled bit worse then i first thought also the panrod mount

    OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

looks like my car after i hit my gutter except 100x worse.

mate not looking good. looks like the whole frame for the panhard rod is ROOTED
i hate to say it but thats some SERIOUS damage to that car...

that mount for the panhard rod is seriously rooted and its not bolted on either its welded on which means big cash getting a replacement part then getting it welded on to a point where its safeway, because u cant bend the orignal one out as it will be weakened and if your in a accident as a result and they find out insurance can refuse to payout...

    not good....

You pretty much have to look at trailing arms, shocks and mounts, panhard rod and mounts. As Paradox said most of this stuff is welded to the frame/diff so it needs professional attention

yeah thanks guys pedders are looking at it this morning im guessing new mount pan rod, wheels and one tyre is allready done, the trailing arm mounts dont seem to bad but you never know, alos the front is a bit rooted bent the strut or something too so yeah. also looking at some photos maybe theres some creases in the boot.... think his pretty much written it off. but i think it will be repiared

I would write it off. The repairs well cost more then the car is worth (or close to it) If the motor and gearbox is good you can either get your self another vp and use the parts yourself to fix the new car if there are any problems, or just flog the car or its parts to mke your money back ( and if your smart maybe more). Let me know what the quote came back with. I reckon it will be in the thousands ( iam guessing between 3-4000).

Write it off, pedders want $1000 to do some bushes, can't image how much they will charge for this!

yeah, there is alot of things u cant see, a hit like that WILL have shifted the frame... it will never drive the same again, my opinion, wreck it for parts not worth fixing

it's repairable but the cost would be greater then what the car is worth. to do it properly you would need to remove the damaged panhard rod mount, then box the damaged subframe and then fit a new panhard rod mount. it's possible but not cheap and it would need to be done proffesionally to pass inspection. also check the diff housing and axles as they may be bent also

You might need to make some new sections where the panhard rod mounts and some bits from the wreckers but it looks ok apart from that, better to get a IRS car next time bit more fixable in stacks like this

nah its getting repaired pedders want 1300 to fix it but,
the panhard rod mount is 400 to replace got new adjustable rod yesterday for 150 and fitted it so now the wheels are where they should be, axels arent bent niether is diff housing, all upper and lower trailing arms are fine as well as the sway bars and shocks
the front needs a new ball joint radious rod and an allinment.
our aim is to have that fixed and fix the damage to the front end for under $1000 the front guard bumper and indicator were smashed but we have purchased new ones and i have started painting them today.
the car is going to get dropped off for the panhard rod mount to be done probley thursday or firday as we are all going on schoolies so we may aswell get it done then.
suprisling with the adjustable panhard rod in the car drives fine.

It really needs to go to a panel beaters and if the mount is fixed properly no need for an expensive adjustable pan hard rod. If the standard rod pushes the diff over too far once it's fixed then it aint fixed properly. I've been to 2 Pedders in Sydney, they tell you a lot of things need replacing when they dont. I got a VN in 1998 and got it checked by one Pedders, got a list of things lke bushes etc, they even qdjusted the steering rack mesh so tight it wold not self centre, did it with a big spanner then I find out it needs a torque rench and have to redo it myself. About 8 years later stuff they said was stuffed and they say they only mention it if it will fail in 6 months is stil on the car and I take it to another Pedders for a safety inspection with wheel alignment they try to tell me the same things are broken and they can't adjust it and this is the same day it has alreaqdy got a pink slip and passed OK. In the end they did the alignment and couldn't even get the steering wheel centred. FRont bal joint and bushes are probably fine for a 20 year old car get a second opinion if they have not been done yet.

ha dude I've pretty much done this in my last car (volvo 740gl, don't laugh it was free and it's in the past), we had to replace the diff and get the tailshaft balanced.

How on earth did he manage that? He isn't one of those dropkicks that jump traffic islands is he? The amount of people i see jumping traffic islands in sedans and similar to make it through a set of lights is ridiculous. I've put my car through all sorts of stuff and the worst i've had is to have to replace a power steering pump. Seriously, if you want to trash a car go and buy an old ricey p.o.s and ruin that. These cars deserve to be owned by someone that will treat them with a bit of t.l.c.
