respraying VP rubber window trim.

the rubber stripping between the windable window and the other window on the back door of my VP looks a little perrished in parts. not horribly, but some of the shine and finish is coming off parts of it.

i bought some K+H vinal plastic paint, but just thought i'd check if this is appropriate for this area. (ie masking the window/rest of the car and then spraying coats on until it's gloss again)

the rest of the window surrounds are fine, but this bit's always looked a bit ghetto.

aslong as the paint is flexable then i dont see why its not a good idea...

worse that can happen is it can flake off??? its black right???

yeah, just didn't want to end up with a sticky mess of undried paint or whatever.

weather's kinda weak right now, i'll give it a shot on the next clear day

yeah man, i did it today, washed my car, getting the areas extra clean, then masked up the car with old bedding and newspaper, and used K+H vinal plastic paint.

it came up pretty well, the stuff is pretty high gloss, but it's better than the ghetto look it was sporting beforehand.

the first few coats just seem to soak into the rubber, then after a couple more it starts to look awesome.

i guess it depends on how shiny you want it, do more or less coats.

K+H and a few other brands seem to do a few paints for trim, but this one seemed better suited.

i guess summer will be the decider.

Easy way to spy a VP is you don't know how they look is just look for a car with the rear window surrounds still silver and the rest black:P they were all shiny silver once but it's alllllllll gone now
