Thread: are series 1 and 2 v6 transmissions the same..

    Default are series 1 and 2 v6 transmissions the same..

    as the title says.. are they the same.. i am selling my series 2 motor and the bloke has a series 1. he said his auto is fine so he doesn't need my auto. so do they bolt up. and input will be good..

    i have a auto off a series 1 bolted 2 my series 2 motor and it all bolted up and seems alright

    I think the manuals won't as Series 1 had 6 bolts and Series 2 8 bolts or the other way round
    If ignorance is bliss why aren't there more happy people around ?

    yeh, the autos should be the same, its only the flexplates on the motor itself that changed and that was only the amount of bolts.

    Ive just helped put a s2 motor out of a VR in a s1 VN. Found that lower part of bellhousing was different. Easy to swap the s1 backplate though.

    yeah im pretty sure that there is also a diffrence in the shift. There is 2 types of box and unless you do something inside it you wont have overdrive if you swap between the models (no this is not the electronic box) my mate who owns a workshop has made this mistake before and erged me to get the correct box when i had to change mine.

    yeah that doesn't make any sense at all. you are just bolting a motor on teh front of it to drive it.
    but stanger things have happened
