Ok so I get my new diff in my car this week with a 3.9 ratio... And its going to put my speedo out....
So how can I adjust/correct my speedo so that when im DOING 60 it will SHOW 60?
Is this something I can do myself? Or should I get it done professionally?
i thought the only way to get it adjusted was to take it to holden and pay copious amounts of money for the few minutes it takes to do...
i dont think there is any other way.
dunno how it adjusted but can u post how the 3.9's go?
bought them for my 5ltr 5spd but havenput them in, let me kno how it goes, if its worth th effort of putting them in or not?
up to VT the only way to adjust it it with a corrector circuit available from Jaycar
VT & onwards the speedo PPK can be adjusted by programming the instrument cluster, takes two minutes & yes it can cost money... so the dealer can make a living.lol
Rob
i thought they had different drive gears on the speedo transducer/ sensor
Stato on the inside, berlina on the out side,5ltr under the bonnet, stockies all round...........that thing has to be a sleeper

im getting my speedo corrected for $260 from a mob that deal with precision diffs in adelaide, forgot their name its in my phone somewhere but give precisions a ring and they will give you their number
i think the last one i got was about $45
Sweet... I'll go check them out.
Thanks heaps man, you are a legend![]()
if you find one can you tell us what its like to install and configure???
Yeah man. I think theres only one Jaycar here in Adelaide, that I know of atleast. I'll go down and see and resurrect the thread when I do.
yeah go the jaycar thing. i am going to buy one for my other car. it is about 15 k's out.
It appears it no longer exists.
Part number used to be KC5380 but its no longer on the Jaycar website. I did a yahoo search and found matches on Autospeed and Volt and other electronic superstores... And they no longer have it either.
Its gone! Theres a mention of it in the Jaycar forums on the 9th September 2006 and I followed the product link in that but it no longer exists. So its disappeared over the last 2 months![]()
they could still ahve some in stock or a warehouse...sometimes happens
surely they would still have the instruction. you could still make one somehow.. ya need to make a circuit board. and they are not that hard. i did it at school about 10 years ago. so i cna't remember how ya do it.. but it isn't hard..
scratch a few lines in a piece of circuit board, drill a few holes, solder in a few resistors i did it 3 years ago in tech.
just need the specs of everything lol
when i did it we did something with acid. we scrached the lines in it. then put tape over where we wanted the lines to go. then put it in acid or something.. thats all i remember. i know the acid buggered my t-shirt once..
i think ya just link it in through your speedo wires. wouldn't be very hard
The Jaycar at Clovelly Park burnt to the ground a few weeks ago.
BTW, it doesn't show on the Electus site either. Possibly worth a few phone calls though.
yeh but you need the value of the resistors and stuff, also a copy of the circuit board so it doesnt change the resistance and end up changing your speedo's accuracy
haha my way i dont it in class was , get a copper board thingy, drawed out the layout, went over it with tar paint, let it dry then acid dipped it to get rid of all the copper (except for where the tar paint covered), then metho'ed off the tar paint and drilled holesworked a treat, couldnt do it again without someone telling me how to do it but hahahaha btw good luck with the speedo prob man

I'll try Jaycar on the weekend.
If they dont have it i'll just have to get the speedo adjusted at Holdens or something.
What about SA Race Diff and Trans? Or a place like that... Any of them have the ability to do it? Im getting a shift kit and corvette servo put in next month, so that could be done at the same time if they were able to do it?
Bump... Anyone know the answer to my above question? Could there be any trans and diff places that would do it?
theres a place near my house that does em CHEAP as, $40 for a basic stock setting and like $80 or something for a full GPS run + ajusting
they've fixed my cluster a few times if anyones in the eastern suburbs of victoria

my car was subject to some dodgy mechanics who really rooted it up ... god knows how as they were supposed to be replacing a CAS...
