Hey guys i've got an sc14(crs) charger for my vp commodore i have everything sussed besides the vacuum line and where i connect it, someone told me that i should hook it up to the map sensor or brake booster but i think i read thats not the right way, could some body please clear this up for me?
Cheers Steve

Ok, well there are a few vacuum lines aren't there? The important one being the brake booster vacuum in my opinion, thats a 3/8 inch hose if memory serves. So you want one end on the brake booster and the other end somewhere there will be vacuum, ie in front of the charger. Maybe the V6 is different but there are definitely several vacuum lines from the manifold on my 5L.

yes that will be for the pcv valve, u will need 2 block where it used to go into the throttle body, on the brake booster u will want a one way valve on the vacume line, i run blow off valve of the map sensor vacume line and boost gauge off the fuel pressure regulator vacume line.
Matt
OK thanks, matt, also what is the one way valve for, on the vacume line for the brake booster?

Ok thanks matt, i'll have to pop into the auto shop n see what they got, there seems to be lots of little things that i didn't know about, i might have to try to get a copy of the crs instructions, anyone got any? i dunno if crs will sell them seperate. i guess i'd better jump on the phone.
Cheers guys.

no worries mate
i just finished getting mine running properly with alot of help from people on this forum so the least i can do is help with what i know, im just getting all the stuff sorted to up the boost.
Matt
Ok so i just got off the phone to castlemaine rod shop... no luck with buying instructions from there. does anybody on here have the instructions that i could buy?
And on what line for the brake booster does the one way valve go on?
Also Matt can you post or email some pics of your engine bay just so i can have a look at what goes where?
Thanks Steve.

Ok so i took a few pic of a couple of thinks im not sure about. any imput will be appreciated. Sorry bout the quality of pics, they are off my phone.
This is the 3 brackets it came with, 3rd one is the belt tensioner, but i'm not sure where theother 2 mount on the charger
Bracket location 1, which one bolts up here?^
bracket location 2, which one bolts up here?^
Also at the back of the main body of charger there is 2 black hoses(25or 30mm dia) which both go into this little black cylender( what is this) and it looks like it has an outle or something on the back of it.

i dont have any idea about this. the only thing i can think of is something to do with oil, cause mine has 2 plugs to empty and fill it with oil at the back
I will try and get some pics up for u but mine will be a bit different cause i just brought the charger without any piping or brackets and made the whole lot myself.
Matt
yeah crs arnt very helpfull the only sell the kit as a whole not in pices at all. plus they r rude ****s.
probably because they know so many of their kits are being sold 2nd hand and they are losing business.
ANYWAYS, i installed the exact same kit the other day without instructions, so just PM any questions you have. that small vacuum hose needs a t-splitter to connect to the hose coming from the MAP sensor.

does anyone have a pic of a crs coilpack mount for on top of the injectors. they are $44 from crs and i want to know if it is worth buying one..
That small vacume hose is that the one on the back, on the small black cylnder?
I think i might make my own brackets at work it will be alot easier i think, just make them so i can mount it to/near the alternator and where everelse seems suitable. Do i have to take of the plate that the coil packs were on or do i leave that?
busted ass vp
yeah that plate that the coil pack used to bolt to has to go. just take it off and put the other one that u have on so u can still use the original one if u decide to take it off to sell it or something.
Matt
youre better off using the brackets you already have. they all fit, but if you make your own, youd want to get the angles right, or you will have a loose belt, or a belt that slowly slips off the pulley over time. where abouts in melbourne are you? you can look at my setup up close if you wanted.
and yeah, the small black hose at the back of the black cylinder on the charger. do you know where your map sensor is? the hose it connects too is pretty much identical in size

i live in Hoppers Crossing, where is wanterna? I'd love to be able to see it in the flesh mate... is the map sensor at the front near the battery?
EDIT: i just looked it up its near knoxfield ay? I think i'll just use the brackets i have then if thats the case.
Cheers steve
busted ass vp
yeah its near knoxfield. but yeah, map sensor is no where near the battery. its at the back of the bay to the right of your throttle body

OK i'll go out n have a look abit later on, do i have to put a t piece in the vacume line on the map sensor to that black cylnder? what is that thing for anway?
busted ass vp
no need to put one way valve in brake booster line.factory plastic 90deg.connector that fits into brake booster has a one way valve built into it.
cheers darren.
thanks Darren
