Definitely NOT what they used on the badges.

If you have a Berlina/S pack/SS or Calais you will have the big thick door trim like I did in which case I say give up.

I tried EVERYTHING... and in the end I had to get all 4 doors repainted because i took all the paint off.

I'm just about to do it on a door i'm painting up. I removed most of the sticky stuff with my nails and i'm going to try enamel thinners on the residue. I'll let you know how it works.

Also, if anyone has any suggestions I can try them out on this door to see how they work as it doesn't matter if I bugger the paint up.

tried again and no good, tried turps and a razor and it didnt even budge,i think i might just have to sand them back and then respray them,so much for thinking it is a simple job

Well the thinners did take the residue off but it took a lot of rubbing and soaking.

This tar and glue remover is really good (it would definitely get rid of the sticky stuff) but no idea if you can get it here. Might be worth contacting them to see if they can supply out here.

I used a blunt paint scraper - 2mm flat front edge and built like a file. I had to use a bit of pressure too. Then sanding for a long time.
Not a nice job but once you start.....

What kind of strip did you have on the door? There is no way you got sikaflex off with tar and glue remover. It must have been a skinny strip, not a Calais/SS style strip.

It came off in 3 pieces and looked the same as the ones I have on my car. I didn't use tar and glue remover on this one, just enamel thinners. That tar and glue remover is wicked stuff though. It gets rid of most sticky shit.

This is the kind of strip it was.

It's on a trolley jack in that pic, but it's not much lower than that! I parked next to a VN yesterday that had the top of the front wheels just in the guards - so embarrassing looking at mine sat next to it.

I just took the trim off a replacement door I got so I can paint it up. Just put the pic up so 1991_vn2nv could see the sort of trim I took off

I cant believe you got the sikaflex off that easy

The double sided foam tape stuff is easy but then the 2 thick lines of sikaflex are horrible.

I just took some Calais strips off a door thats going on my car tomorrow... Took me about 20 minutes to get it off... mostly time waiting for the jug to boil. Boiled water softens it up and you just rip em off. But getting the sikaflex itself off the doors is a whole different story.

Heres what it looks like underneath with the sikaflex (ignore the silver...used to be Calais two tone):

Yeah it does look aweful with a kit, thats why I took mine off. But you need to repaint your doors, it ends up being a necessity cause you wont get it off without hurting the paint.

Holy crap!! I didn't have quite that much sikaflex on the strips I took off. I wonder if somene had already taken the strips off and re-stuck them on mine.

Nah, the sikaflex if thats what is used on the exec strips wont be as bad anyway. If its still sikaflex it will be a pain but possible. Im pretty sure its not actual sikaflex used on those ones, a glue like you said so it should be alright man There were some on my guards that just has crappy glue on the back... And they came off really easy.

Maybe? My car was resprayed before I bought it, and they left the berlina strips off, so underneath it was like a faded colour white anyway with primer and stuff visible towards the edges. Lazy ass painters lol. So I would have needed to get the doors done anyway

Yeah when I took my car to a crash repairer to ask if they could remove the sikaflex they said its too hard on enamel paint as it gets soft when warm, where as 2pac gets harder the warmer it gets. They said they'd have to repaint the doors anyway themselves so I just took it off with no regards to paint and then sent it in to get the doors painted.
