hey, im stumped.... for around 6 months my cooling system has done nothing but pressureise and boil over... now ive replaced the headgaskets, inlet seals overflow tank, thermostat (180deg) but it still does it...
im at the point where i dont run coolant because if i do it pisses it out within a week, the pressure makes holes where there is no holes.. im stumped any idea's???
Get it flushed professionally and pressure tested. The bloke I use charges $88 to flush, fill and pressure test.

upgrade thermo fans to a 16" and service the radiator, a recoer might be an option or adding another core
yeah on more than one occasion, radiator flows good, i need to check all my piping tommorrow make sure its all fine, problem probbly lies there and ill throw some coolant in it this time since the engines backtogether
went out for a cruize, more water in it, temp held steady musta been air in the coolant or a leak somewhere cuz there wasnt much coolant left...

Water pump? Can make a big differance !
water pump looks new
if it is a series 1, take your time putting water in it. it takes a while to get all the air out of them..
Have your heater set to flat out when you fill her up!

i had it off i had everything off.. and as far as i can tell now its got to do with the thermostat piping, i think it has a split in the end, ill replace it
it will most likley be a blocked radator or alot of air in the system.
you may think your radator is flowing good but it may only be using half of it

Check if the water pump is leaking, dont look at the casing as you never know, holden pumps are crap, like power steering and fuel pump, they dont last long.
well its been fine lately, havnt driven it much tho... dont drive to work anymore (working in the city these days) sooo shes a weekend car now![]()
popped a hose found it :P forgot to tighten clamp
lol that's always embarrassing!!
I did that with the high-pressure power steering hose after changing the pump!! Things got messy real quick . . . so much for all the time I spent cleaning the bay . . . . *cries*
Drive ... drive ... turn * hiss * *steam fills cabin* 'oh no!' *pops bonnet* *steam clears* FLUID EVERYWHERE!!
*speechless, sits down resting against the car*
HAHAHAHHAHA... ive got a good 2L of power steering fluid still in my drive way... lost the seal for the overflow tank... it leaked EVERYWHERE
yay! I'm not the only one who's done something dumb with their power steering!!*yay*
here's what the carpark looked like after mine:
[car]........ .... .... .. . ... . . . . . . . . . <-- p.s. fluid ... lol
But she's got a new high-pressure hose now and is on the way to a new rack as well (just starting to leak) so all is good![]()
**NEWSFLASH**
The makers of VIAGRA have released the product in powder form. Add to your cuppa in the morning............stops your biccy's from going soft.
Im assuming its a S1 vn so it does not have an air-bleed screw.
It's mostlikely a blocked radiator or your new thermostat is a dud (and yes, they do happen - my genuine holden thermostat I got was a dud, got a repco one and now works fine).
I would be constantly checking both radiator hoses are getting hot and are firm to touch (shows good system pressure). When the car is warming up, the top hose should get hot by the time it reaches the first notch above cold. If the radiator is flowing properly, bottom hose should be about the same temperature....
Also make sure coolant level is good as its hard to tell how much is actually in the system...
