Actually 255's will fit with the right rolling diameter. He has 245/35's so the rolling diamater has increased... 255/30's will fit depending on offset. I run 245's and have no problems with the front and im on ultralows...

How are spacers going to help? It is rubbing on the spring seat... So its the tread that is rubbing NOT the sidewall. Its not width, its rolling diameter. Yes the spring seat tapers up as it goes further out, but not dramatic enough for spacers to correct it.

I went through all this about a month ago. Originally I thought it was rubbing on the strut, but then when I got to have a decent look it was the spring seat.

Anyways I also run 245/35 R19's and after a wheel alignment I was left with 5mm clearance to the spring seat. So give that a go but offset will have an effect on this too I think.

Your other option is correct sized rolling diameter. No 30 profile is available for the 245 width but you can go back to a 235 width or up to a 255 where SOME tyre manufacturers do a 30 profile (most are 265 though).

didn't think the spacers are legal however?? hope you fitted longer studs with those spacer though. not all treads are made equal either if you put 2 treads together from different manufacturers of the same size you will find there is a difference in width, sidewall height etc

Yeah spacers are illegal... But I think you can go up to 5mm spacers without using longer studs... or atleast thats what I've been told.

It will be touching in the inside top of the spring seat. Spacers will simply move the rubbing further out onto the spring seat.

Pedders fitted 5mm spacers to my car when I had this problem and it solved nothing. I tried spacers because I thought it was the sidewall hitting... as in rubbing the strut. But in the end it wasnt.

Spacers are very dangerous and put alot of strain on the studs....

The rims shouldnt be on the car if spacers are needed.

yeah im not using spacers.. had issues with them on a mates ccar before. But we wont go there. The tyre is rubbing rite where the hole is on the spring seat. There is a 5mm gap there but on long sweeping corners all i can smell is rubber and its worth to much to be burning.. lol. The problem is the tyres are to wide i think. If i went down to a 235 i recon it would solve it so when these tyres eventually die ill be putting 235s on the front atleast and might put 255s on the back.. hehehe.. The tyre is sitting nicly with the guard to.

Oh and spring size has nothing to do with if its going to rub on the spring seat or not. Due to the fact that its a fixed length. If i could just cut it and add 5mm to it it would be all good. But for some reason i think that might be a little illegal.. lol

If you get 235's you can also get the right tyre profile, altho a 235/35 is smaller in diameter than a 245/35 also, as its 35% of the width, so yes that will fix the problem. Im going 255's front and rear just so I can rotate the tyres, 255/30's though, not 35's.

Why dont you get a wheel alignment like Vn2nV said considering you have a similar setup to him. I'm not sure what its called but you can get a wheel alignment where they move your struts etc.

that wont do anything, the stub axle and strut is one unit so you cant change the fact that its hitting the spring seat.
Put a 235 or 225 tyre on it. Dont use spacers, why do poeple always recommend spacers!? They are dodgy/illegal/unsafe for a reason.

Are they a HSV wheel or an aftermarket one? With a HSV wheel the biggest we have been able to fit is a 235/35 and it will 'just' touch on max compression. With an after market have fitted a 245 without any problems at all.
